Have you heard about this new NCW format? Can we all do that with our jerry - rigged libraries do you think? Is it something you do through Kontakt itself?

    :dunno:

Kontakt version 4.01: New Batch Compress function allows to resave numerous samples or whole libraries in lossless KONTAKT ".ncw" file format

Smaller file sizes, less RAM memory used to playback samples, less CPU overhead, libraries load a lot quicker etc....

Example 40GB library takes up 20 to 25GB instead.

how about protected soundbanks (e.g EWQL) can we save them under that format .... I have about 200Gb of these so that might be useful...
what about the protection..is it gone, bypassed...still there??
    thanks to whoever knows

Right, once we've compressed our libraries can we then toss the old installers? And yes what about those EWQL, sh*ts?! Plus I have just been updating all my old libraries using the method kindly given to me a couple of days ago - the one where you have to change the reg values on PC and make your own NKC NKX files. Do you think these can be coverted to NCW? Are any libraries being release professionally this way?

Could anyone give a quick guide as to how to use the batch re-save thingy?

I'm a little worried when the warning box comes up as I dkn't wanna screw up my samples!!

Actually I just selected the folder where the samples were stored in, and that was it.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to save newer libraries (in .NCW format) in the new 4.2.3 ASSIGN edition. I have Cinebrass, and I want to integrate it into my portable setup, so just saving some individual patches from the library. But when I navigate to File > Save Multi As, the option to save as a monolith or as individual WAV files is greyed out. I have also seen on these forums that you can use batch compress and collect samples/batch compress, but I am not having any luck with that either because get the message in the log file:
    Code:
    found no files to process
    Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem with Novachord from Sonic Couture. I have read the tutorial that says how to do it but I'm not able to select the library...

You can't batch compress libraries like Cinebrass which are protected (generally, protected libraries are the ones that show up on the library tab, like Cinebrass, Orchestral String Runs, and Project SAM stuff). It used to be that an old Kontakt scene release allowed you to bypass this and make .ncw versions of them, but the newest release of Kontakt doesn't let you. You can't use the older version because newer libraries like Cinebrass only work on 4.2.3.

Even if Assign was to "fix" the latest Kontakt release to allow you to make .ncw versions of protected libaries, I'd advise against doing so... because chances are when Kontakt is updated again there will be the same waiting period, during which you'll be unable to use those protected libraries in .ncw format.

You certainly can save protected libraries using the AiR version of Kontakt 4. All other cracked versions, that I'm aware of, won't allow you.

VIVI, unless I somehow received a bum version of the release, no, you can't for the 4.2.3 release. For one of the older releases, you're correct. If I am incorrect and somehow managed to receive a different version of the release, I apologize- I'll test that a little later today.

Edit;; Yeah, unless my searching skills have failed me, I see no AiR Kontakt 4.2.3 release, only Assign. OP would have to use 4.2.3 or higher to be able to use Cinebrass.

There isnt a Air 4.2.3, only ASSIGN has that update.

    I'd take allshallfade's advice.

leave well enough alone for now.

Hey thanks. That's exactly what I thought.

What is your guys' experience with only taking some of the library (as in only the 5th/6th .NKC/.NKM file) in order to get the patches you need. Does this work?

Yup, it works, just be sure you have all the samples you need available to you. I'm positive it works because a trick a lot of composers use (I do it myself) is to spread the contents of libraries out on several harddrives. It improves your streaming speeds.
