Yeah, I divide the scene into the nerds (that want to be artist) that pushes and improves the tech further and further but are the ones who are inventing the techniques other creative people with tru vision and art direction used later. Banodoco would be the most representative of this, especially it's discord channel. But is not truly art per se, just a collection of tech demos.

On the other side people with tru intent and knolddeage like DADABOTS or Mat Dryhurst and Holly Herndon for example, are making really interesting things, and almost any relevant arts and media institution: LACMA, IRCAM (they develop the RAVE model) have its own dedicated AI art research and even residencies atm.

What amuses me about this new media is that it's on its infancy, people are still trying to figuring out what to do with it. Is like the you want Gabinete Caligari to be done just a few years after the lumiere brothers took their reels to the carnavals to show trains arriving at the station. It took 30 years for the cinema to find it's own voice and 60 to 80 year for the photography to be taken seriuosly as an art.

The problem for me is not the tech, it's the system it happens to be emerged in. Greddy mfs that lay down VC funded bizz for low effort wannabes while stealing everyones work. And the noise they inject on an already overcrowded ecosytem.
