If you download the software for personal use, then you are in the wrong as you haven't paid for it obviously, but it's less objectionable than downloading, solely to profit by selling the software to many people and gaining maybe Hundreds or thousands of Quids from others hard work. Just my humble opinion.
I also download R2R for personal use.

 

my my my what a can of worms that's been opened here. this is all about perspective.

1. . from the developer ( all downloads are Illegal weather for personal and especially to resell period) their perspective is their bottom line.
2. From the perspective of the law ( there are Copywrite laws which. in the end, they are just tools for lawyers to defend or prosecute with. some law firms abuse this by farming data from ISP looking. for copywriting materiel and then offer their services to Copywrite holders and say hey look these people downloaded your product for a fee we will represent you and go after the 12-year old that downloaded (insert whatever kids are watching these days here ) So far the only ones that can take advantage of this tactic are mega-corporations that can afford such representation. even the biggest developer ain't got that kinda cash lying around so any fear of them coming after the relatively small number of downloaders (compared to volume sold) is small.
3. The sister site types come in 3 versions. (V1) - the hobby musician that been able to cobble together a machine fast enough to run a modern DAW of any kind and wants to try the latest stuff but ain't got the cash flow to drop on said plugin or library or more serious types that want to try said plugin before dropping said cash. stuff is expensive and money is tight and remembers the days before the internet when the boxes were shiny and the promises huge but the product was seriously lacking and then you're out a huge chunk of cash for something you never will ever use ( been there done that) and no recourse to return said POS to the dealer. (v2). the collectors, it is there so they have to have to say they have it (V3). the opportunist the ones that see an opportunity to cash. (V4) the elitist hypocrites, the ones that come and chastise people for downloading anything and preach full legitimacy of there collection and how dare we. Please
   
   
   
   There are many types in these 3 I know but for me. if it wasn't for the sister site I would not own as much as I do, because I was able to use software to a point that said: "I need to have this" and they are the ones that got my hard-earned money. if I use something on a professional paying gig it gets bought or most time I already own a plugin that does the job, sometimes even better!
   
   
   its all up to the individual on how they interpret what goes on in places like the sister site. I use it as a tool to help spend my money wisely, others may have different motives I will say though resale is a no-no if someone is gonna spend money on a product it should go to the developers if someone is going to profit from works made using downloaded products they need to support the developers that helped them.

Well the one that committed two crimes. But in the case of eBay, they are committing the third crime because the illegal sale is being committed on their platform who should ultimately be responsible for the sale of stolen goods on their web site.

I'm happy that the sister site has saved me some real money on finding out what is bunk.

reality is, as a result of said site, I HAVE purchased good products that I rely on, as personaly feel its the right thing to do and whatever.

soundtoys, valhalla, ableton, native instruments ultimate etc... and many more from audio damage and down the line....

i have been at this since before plugins damn existed. and when they came into being (DiNR for anyone who cares)... we bought it and waited for it to show up in the mail... lol...

i have burned many times by buying shit that doesn't do what it says or sells as, and that is what it is...

but there are developers out there worth supporting, and if I use their products more then once in anything, hell yeah, i do the right thing or try to.

I often joke myself about being a compulsive downloader, not buying anything, and so on. Though I've actually spent more money in audio soft than in any other software. Still that makes it an small amount lol.

We steal it.
