    Hi Everyone, Happy New Year!

My first 2026 release is a long-awaited collaboration track with my good friend Izlo, which we started after reconnecting a while back. I'm happy to finally share it — free download for anyone that's interested. Hope you enjoy!

    Hi!

Really well balanced track, i have to say the first minute and a half are really special, taste ofcorse.. but still that sizzly snappy snare with the Emu kind of 808 in the beggining are spiceeey! Dont get me wrong the drums that come in are great but that intro, sounds like nothing else...cold and warm at the same time. Cheers and all the best!

@KORG3R I appreciate the kind words, I'm really happy with the way it turned out. It's a different kind of track than I'm normally used to making, mostly because it began as a completely different tune. It was my friends original track idea and I essentially took the melodic parts only and built around them.Thank you for listening!

@Melodic Reality I had to look that up, not familar at all with Ott or the track The Queen of All Everything but had a listen and that is a beautiful track. Not sure I'm in the same league but appreciate the comparison. Much obliged! :mates:

Hello @aymat, first of all, thank you for the free listen. I find your song very sophisticated and cleverly crafted. For me, the mix is perfect, with a fantastic bass and a superb piano sound in the room. The master really shows what he can do. Bravo! I've rarely heard such a good, varied sound. A beautiful story told in 5:40, relaxed and with love for the music. It has such a lovely, sweeping view of the sea and the horizon.

Nice track. It reminds me of the forgotten "intelligent DnB" era of music and technological progress.

@PulseWave I cant take all the credit, my buddy Izlo is the one that had the melodic foundation for the track already fleshed out. Coming up with ideas is always hit or miss for me, mostly miss if I'm being honest. I just normally throw things at a wall until something sticks so when theres a really good idea to work with, everything sort of clicks and I can almost hear the track finished in my head. Thats why I really enjoy these type of collaborations because it takes a lot of the guess work out of making a tune and things just flow. Really appreciate the kind words!

@dtmd man that era of music is what has motivated me since I started producing music. At the risk of sounding cheesy, thats what has always appealed to me about d&b, the amalgamation of so many influences and pushing the music forward. Even if sometimes it can feel like its stagnating, it always keeps evolving somehow. I still feel this way.

By the way, I love Aural Imbalance, especially that track. The bassline for it is fantastic and Im pretty sure Seba either used it in one of his tracks or vice versa, simple but fantastic bassline either way. Not sure if you've heard of Seim but if you like Aural Imbalance, I think youd really enjoy his stuff.

This is very unusual and interesting to my ears.

Can you please elaborate on what synths / sample libs were used?

    Once again, congrats!

@mrpsanter The initial idea came from a melody Izlo wrote on an experimental break tune (you can hear it come in at 2:02). I built the track around that, I taking some liberties adjusting both the melody and chord structure slightly from the original to better fit the tempo of the track because they were initially played in a bit of a jazzy free form style.

I normally write in Maschine using Falcon and outboard gear, in this case a Roland Integra7 and a Motif Rack. All of the synth parts are from Falcon and Serum. The drum breaks I normally program using the Integra7 kits layered with Addictive Drums, I made and layered 6 separate drum breaks with some miscellaneous perc thrown in. I like layering a lot of breaks together to build and release tension throughout, that was to be the most amount of work put into this track. For synth stuff, I used Falcon and Serum quite a bit, just searching for sounds that played off each other and worked well together. For bass, I typically noodle stuff out on my electric bass then bring it into my sampler to chop up and edit. The 808 bass came from a little free plugin called Synsonic 808, which I use quite a bit, layered with a sub bass from Hive. For the acoustic and electric pianos, I used the Motif Rack. The main vocal sample I pulled from a series called The Blacklist, I was looking for samples that fit the Polaris/North Star theme and got lucky. With the exception of the little vocal snippets think break at the beginning of the track, and the secondary synth riff toward the second half of the track, everything else was recorded from scratch. I dont use a lot of fx, just basic eq, compression, delay and reverb. Altogether there's about 40 different multi-tracks.

    Thanks for the insights.
The more I listen to your track and the more I like it. Very well done!

BTW for some reasons I was unable to share your track which is unfortunate.

Thanks! Btw I'm not sure why you cant share the track, if the share/embed links on the bandcamp page dont work, copying and pasting the direct url should work as well.
