The truth is, the Pro Tools-Media Composer combo is extraordinary in the film industry. But Pro Tools is without a doubt the most used DAW by professionals. I will have toured over thirty studios in the US, and over a dozen in the UK and Germany, and I have had to do only and only with Pro Tools. Is it possible that I have only met PT users in my entire life? Not to mention that if you work with big labels and superstars, PT is a must, even simply for the exchange of stems and sessions.

A three month trial eh?....I don't believe it will be as effective of a marketing tool as First was, first left people wanting more, whereas the full version trial will either convince them to pay the subscription or abandon it completely, Avid might be shooting themselves in the foot,only time will tell on that one......IMHO

 

I feel like the crack R2R released recently is probably the only one we're gonna see for some time yet, they clearly stated that it has enough functionality for semi pro users, which leads me to believe it's all they're gonna do as far as PT is concerned....

no way around pro tools, kinda hope audioutopia gives us a recent version, but im good with 12.5 for years to come

 

Audioutopia has been retired for years so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

 

i always expect the unexpected
so far r2r took over pretty good, utopia werent flawless either, they missed some custom mcdsp protection which renders the cracks unuseable, but i used em and bought em, so great demo
mhchannel was usefull so i bought it, even pro tools, but im using the ilok free 12.5 so, i like lean code, non crippled software like softube, which i all own, but the cracks are better

so audioutopia, r2r, love you for freeing our bought products from the ilok hassle

Regardless of the topic title, someone always praises and talks about Reaper and compares it.

Cubase, FL, Pro Tools, Kontakt, no matter whichever sub-forum someone comes and starts talking about Reaper.
If Audiosex doesn't have a secret advertising deal with the Reaper, I don't understand why this is allowed.

Anyone managed to successfully patch PT First with extended fuctionality? I can't import audio in a new project (just a simple audio to check the playback). Getting "Could not complete the Drag from Browser command because An unknown exception occured". Browser being PT's own workspace browser

 

Finally, thanks @Olymoon for this post. It is not possible that in any thread about any DAW, users who use Steinberg and especially Avid will be bullied, by slipping the subject on Reaper, for no reason. If I use Pro Tools, I don't give a damn about Reaper, and I'm not interested in any other DAW, just Pro Tools. Same story with Cubase. We hope that in the next threads they don't hunt us with the usual reaperian mush.

Interesting, they never really gave a specific reason for killing it, but I think we all know why.....

 

For a few weeks now someone on a Dutch marketplace is actually selling Pro Tools First It's clearly a scammer because he already tried to sell other suspicious stuff before. Unfortunately, they won't remove his add. I find this a bit disturbing to be honest. But what can I do? Besides reporting again and again.

Well, don't ask me how, but I managed to get 2021.12 working, I downloaded it from Avid, and replaced the executable in my 2021.7 install with the one from 2021.12, I also copied over the dark skin folder, 2021.12 has some built in themes, again.....I don't know why it works, it just does, it still has the same limitations though, but hey, I'll not look a gift horse in the mouth, I think if R2R tweaked the Protools.dll file, we'd have a full version.....
