Surprised it took that long

 

uhmm so they figured it out that why so many people making Pro Tools First account.

 

They thought for a long time how to fasten a subscription in this situation.

 

Obviously, Avid has never been known for speed. They are known for consumer kidnapping and software defects.

Pro Tools | First is temporarily unavailable for technical reasons. While we fix the problems, please take Pro Tools for a spin by getting your free trial. "

 

With the very limited functionality, forced use of being connected & not being able to use normal AAX plugins (free, donationware, retail), they were not getting a revenue stream from Pro Tools First.

Why companies offer products with these kinds of limitations has never made sense to me. Even for someone just starting out, the frustration factor is high with this type of approach.

Now they are back to the 'Trial' model. Will this permanently replace Pro tools First?

 

once you installed pt first and activated it , you're good to go even on a fresh install of windows. just install the bigboy and replace files. gold.

 

Guys, anyone who tells you it was enough to download PT First license, replace the "Unlock AAX" files to get Ultimate is lying to you, or just have no idea what Pro Tools is. And above all, R2R has made it clear to whom that PT Utility License, i.e. Standard and Ultimate users, is addressed. So it's even better that this PT First Extended circus is over.

 

So can someone explain clearly the steps to have a working PT R2R? Thnx!

yeah. you install pt first, activate it. uninstall. install Avid Pro Tools v2021.7.0 RETAIL-R2R.

replace files. done. no need to be online like on pt first. all aax runx purrfekto. no crash for a week now.

That’s the problem though, unless you got a PT First license before, you can’t activate that licence.

Nothing, nothing has been released if you are not legit user. You just have to wait for R2R or continue with AU.

 

The problem is that IMO R2R got a bit confused with these Pro Tools pre-releases, and no one really understood them at first. This is a gift that R2R has given legit users, especially Ultimate/HD, to be able to use their iLok modified products. This suggests it's just the introduction to a Proper version of Pro Tools Ultimate, or at least I hope so.

 

Oh, I see, so there's no way to use PT 12 Ultimate without license right now, even If I've got PT first. Let's wait

 

Exactly. The key right now is to wait, for the first time in many years we are really close to Pro Tools.

 

Yes, the Historic Day of Pro Tools Ultimate R2R seems very close. Let's hope it will become reality one day.

I managed to install Pro Tools 2021 from R2R and everything works like in the description, but many plugins doesn't work at all. These plugins are from R2R and Pro Tools just telling me that the following plugins are not valid 64bit AAX plugins. But they are, because they work on PT 12.5 from AudioUtopia. The strangest thing is that most of this plugins are form R2R so they should work without any problems. Somebody know what is going on? I see on your printscreens that you can run SSL plugins, but mine doesn't work at all. Any idea what am I missing?
