Hello! I have to buy a "cube", I've seen that the most relevant are the Avantone and Auratone. For studio & life needs I'm referring esclusively to the active versions.

Which one do you suggest? Are there differences in the sound, frequency response and time domain?

5Cs here, no experience with the Avantones, but I think there are a few videos on YT where you can hear the vastly different coloration. The midrange is sounding extremely different. The midrange of the Auras is quite even. The Auratones are also the ones known for their amazing transient behaviour. They are probably even slightly better than NS-10s. Good tools for judging bass and transients.

My 2 ct. about 2 or 1:
I'd recommend to get a pair. Mixing in mono is still possible with two, but you would miss the benefit of their great stereo imaging capabilities in the near field at arms length. Great to set oscs widths/haas/dly/rev/chorus.
