Just did a quick research about your Space music thing...
I didnt even know such a thing even existed haha
Sound a bit more paddy compared to what I'm looking for ....a bit like Jean Michel Jarre I guess.....but its definitely in the same category.

I don't think that's synthwave at all, in fact that genre is pretty poor IMO, this is something more spacey, sort of speech.
The ones I know were mentioned here already, even by you, so I guess I could recommend you to check out some of their songs on youtube and pay attention to the suggested videos, they usually are pretty similar things.
You would be surprised how many great things I discovered by doing that.
Either that or check their last.fm sites and see what similar bands/artists they show you, that was another great way to me to get to know good stuff as well.

I don't know if that really fits here, but anyway, if some kinds of listenable Avantgarde from that time are sought, the following popped up from my memory:

Vangelis' 'Beauborg' Album was one of a kind in his oevre then (1978), maybe he wanted to proof he is in Stockhausen's league.

And very interesting, unique for the album art, Dave Greenslades' 'Pentateuch':
