Hi guys. A Friend of mine used antares autotune CE from VR just fine but suddenly its gone! The installer says that it cant find the path, even with admin rights. Anyone know what could suddenly be the Problem?

 

usually microsoft virus defender update will see a false postive and delete it you may shut off virus app temporilly reinstall and let virus app allow it

 

"The installer says that it cant find the path" <-- That statement doesn't make sense, because there is no "path' set until it is installed.

I assume it is already installed, and according to the title, the plugin is either gone from the "Folder" menu in Ableton...
OR the plugin .DLLs are gone from the actual folder where you install VSTs.

Try to give a bit more information, and search your "C" drive (or wherever you install your VST DLLs) for "Auto-Tune".
As @studio5599 mentioned , there may be an issue with your antivirus. I exclude my VST folders in AV settings, and if you are using "unofficial" software, you must exclude any place they are stored or installed. You can still let AV scan your normal download paths & etc to protect from internet surfing, but for the rest, start setting exceptions for folders you trust and do not want being scanned while you are trying to work.

I have had this issue with my friend who installed a symlink and deleted it but didn't use the command for it he just delete the folder that had the symlink, go to that path and you will probably find a shortcut that leads to nowhere so just delete it and see if the installer will go.

 

If you wonder why false positive? well because of several things: code have signature of tools used to devolope malicious programs, the way drm was bypassed/workaround loader memory spoofing etc. also the conspiracy theory that av companies work to help dmca gang and their clowns organizations keep making infinityillions $ my recommendation get the R2R variant also exclude your daw, daw related data folders your plugins and their data folders into your av while the av is disabled same goes for everything that needs performance like games etc. also sometimes it may be not false positive poisoned installers/keygens cracks etc. found in the wind are occurrence cyber fuckers are really on users assumption it is false positive to get them infected using piracy is a risky business always do backup even legitimate software can wreck chaos.

Well , you can sometimes look at the properties of the link as a clue to verify previous location, too. So I would look follow the path to look and see ... and see if AntiVirus is scanning that location and deleting stuff.
I would want to figure it out before i deleted the link.
