Hi all,

Just faced a problem I can't overcome in Live. I built my orchestral scoring template, with all my Kontakt instances, and was about to assign the midi CC for controlling dynamics and expression. What I aim to do is to record a clip and its own automations for these two parameters. However, Live seems to work oddly. Indeed, while with the expression wheel I can control the dynamics of the armed instrument, if I assign another fader/CC to the expression control, the automation lane is recorded for all the tracks employing that control.
The problem is that I aim to have the same two faders of my Nanokontrol controlling the dynamics and expression of all the tracks in my template, but I want this only for a track (the armed one) at a time.

So far my research in Ableton's forum gave no solution, as well as the research for M4L devices and the efforts to build my own custom device.
Any ideas?

 

Assign the dynamics and expression parameters to the desired knobs via midi cc assignment (I think mod is cc1 and expression is cc11) then arm a track and these should control per track.

 

Already tried this, but for some reason, Kontakt doesn't seem to see my controller, although midi data reach and flow through Live correctly

 

Did you try opening preferences/MIDI tab/ and then make sure “remote” is checked?

 

It is, but for some reason it does not work..
