    Hi!

I bet this is a real bass guitar in this 2002 track .
Does Trilian (or other VST) have such a bass patch? which sounds so authentic like this bass from the YT track at 4:33?
Or do you recommend some production techniques to make a Trilian patch sound as authentic as a real bass guitar?

    Thanks!

Get someone on fiver to play your part. Plenty of talented people on there who will make it funkier than any vst

    1. It's played with a pick so you need a pick sample if you do not want a real bassist.
    2. It has also been lightly saturated, so you will need to add that on an insert.
    3. It is a clean Fender precision-like sound which can also be gained with a Rickenbacker neck pickup or a Musicman Stingray, or a Dingwall.
    4. You can get something close with Trillian Fender bass but you'll need to substantially brighten/EQ it.
5.The Chris Hein Bass in Kontakt is pretty close

    6. Try The Ample basses on the sister site, they do the same. With saturation and EQ, most will get close - the patch on the precision will give you that sound but you may need to boost the low end a little

    7. The EZBass Metal will also give you close to the same sound and you can likely do most of the EQ etc without an insert in EZBass.

The modern versions of all these vst plugins, like EzBass and Modo bass; plus Kontakt libraries; are capable of way more realistic bass guitars than anything available in 2002 plugins. Most of the Chicago House tracks from the time frame were still samples in a MPC2000 (or mpc60), and S Series samplers like the S900 or S1000. It's definitely not from Trilian, because that wasn't released until 2009.

Spectrasonics TRILOGY bass VSTi (pre-TRILIAN) came out in 2002. It was one of 3 Spectrasonic's VSTis that were the first (for me) to span multiple installation CDRs. (For me, that was a huge PITA back then on my ~80GB HDD.)
