Song i wrote for a movie audition , directer said he wanted something pirates of the caribbeanish soo here it is... i know the french horn needs some tweaking but whatever what do you guys think? http://soundcloud.com/robbiep514/all-together
The percussion destroys everything in its path. Yeah, the horn is a bit weak/back. But that's partly due to the perc and not just the horn itself. I think it needs some more variation/movement, too. (Is the Brass/Strings from Symphobia?)
i felt the same way, :/ but thank you so much for the response. would you say the perc needs to come down in levels? also the brass is cinesamples: cinebrass pro. strings are cinematic strings 2 and albion 2 and some LA scoring strings
Hm, I can't say for sure. Maybe turn it down a bit and EQ some of the boom out (it eats up the low mids). Leave some very low boom for the impact. The way it is now it creates some strange harmonics. The strings are a tad too soft too. Increase the velocities and vary them a bit. Also, create some phrasing. For example, the cello pattern goes like: boomboom-boomboom-boomboomboom And the dynamics are like this: -- / -- / --- Make it like this: ^- / ^- / ^-- (Accents) = BOOMboom-BOOMboom-BOOMBoomboom (Maybe with a more spiccato/staccato patch) I'd increase the Horn dynamics (4 Horns?) and bring it a bit more forward. Some more cavernous reverb to the boom and brighter for the highs/hats/whatever. I'd add a supporting pattern/melody on Violins 2. And Trumpets answering to the Horns. And some glue compression (if you want to;else, play with the velocities/dynamics). Mostly on the perc.
if it were a actually song for the film id def add some more moment/ melody some call and response and what not unfortunately this thing is due today haha so this is it just some minor fixes thank you for all the feed back though much appreciated it will help me alot when i continue this project!
V2 : ??? im having alot of trouble mixing this sucker http://soundcloud.com/robbiep514/all-togetherv2
It's better (for me at least)... Tighter and cleaner. (Maybe a bit less reverb on the hats and a bit more back and some taming of the mids) Brass Wall Of Death.
