AudioThing has announced that it is developing an updated version of its Outer Verb spring reverb plugin.

Outer Verb is a spring reverb plugin emulation based on the reverb tank of a famous vintage tape echo made in the early seventies.

Outer Verb uses a combination of convolution and modelling to recreate the vintage feeling of that famous spring reverb tone. The input stage can be pushed to introduce a warm saturation before the reverb effect. We’ve also modelled the EQ section of the original unit which affect only the reverb wet signal.

The update will result in a new plugin that will include a Tape Echo section, along with all the features of Outer Verb. It will be free to Outer Verb owners.

Outer Verb for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/AAX) is on sale for 29 EUR until February 7th, 2017 (regular 39 EUR). The full price of the new plugin will be higher, and Outer Verb will be discontinued upon release.

this sentence logic-wise makes absolutely no sense.

so Outer Verb will be discontinued after release? huh what?!

Seems obvious the OLD Outer verb will be discontinued and replaced with new version.

It means as soon as Outer Verb gets updated with Tape Echo section, it becomes a new product - a full Roland Tape Echo emulation and not just the reverb section of it, as it is at the moment.

Users around the Web requested tape echo section to be added, so Audiothing are now working on it. I think they're gonna call it Outer Space after the update.

So the current version with just reverb section gets discontinued and a new one with tape echo added will replace it.

Dev says, if you buy Outer Verb now, you'll get Tape Echo update for free. it was told the development would take up to 2 months approx.

The price of a full emulation will be higher than the current reverb section emu, so it's all logical.

It doesn't. But those Dan Dean basses you posted sure do. :)

logic-wise the sentence make no sense they put up. of course with a new version the old version will be replace, because well its a new version of the plugin.

    like:
version 1.7 not having the tape echo section
version 1.8 has the tape echo section
but still doesnt mean the product itself will be discontinued.

there is no OLD outer verb as its just a new version. thats the normal version numbering, when you work in software development.

well, it just means they don't see it that way. the current product will be discontinued, because not the version gets higher, it becomes a new product. they didn't want to change anything at first. it was meant to be just the reverb, that was the original idea of a product. but users kept asking and they said ok, so 2 months from now it becomes a full emulation of a Roland device with a tape echo and all the switches and controls and original stuff.

I really didn't think this would require additional explaining, to be honest. it sure didn't take One Reason long time to understand what was written. he got it right for "one reason" (pun intended).

all in all, the big point of this news is: if anyone wants to buy it, you better get it now, while there's still sale until February 7th and a chance to get the new plugin for free. I'd say, this is what matters most.
