My special greets go out to all other 50+ old farts like me :-P ( 51 !) i remember the days when i dashed the dancefloor to "Rappers Delight" !! There was no Hip Hop then just Rap :) Nowadays i have days where my back aches so much that i even can´t take my dog ( Husky) for a walk. Inside i still feel like a teen. My first approach was a Atari ST with Emagic Notator Software (still on my attick) a Juno Synth and a Rhodes MKI a Ensoniq Mirage and then ASR 10 without scsi :-D
We should think about our own section here in AudioZ 50+ ish ;-)
And here where i live i just say over and over again " Legalize It !!!!" ;-)
@ DieM i just saw you are glaswegian ;-) Rangers or Celtics ?

Hi Hades. I don't actually bother with football these days.
I used to go to the Partick Thistle games when I was younger.
They weren't too bad a team back then.
    Are you local yourself?

    47 here ...

I grew up in Helensburgh myself, well, 7 years there, from 4-12 or so.. navy brat, my Dad was at Faslane Submarine base on HMS Resolution..

Only ever made it to one footy game.. was Hearts Vs. Dumbarton..... I cant think of a day ever that my feet were as cold as they were that day.. I remember pouring hot coffee inside my wellies and it freezing to my feet... OH MY GOD..:wtf: what a retard.. looking back.

Anyway.. enjoyed a nice cup of Bovril with my Dad tho, His team, Dumbarton lost and really, one of only a few times me and him ever went and did anything together.

For me, I always liked Rangers better, the green hoops of Celtic made me feel ill.. so it was more a uniform preference than anything else. I did however go thru my Kenny Dalglish phase

Been in Florida many years now, and people think im crazy when i wear flip flops and shorts in the middle of winter..

    :hillbilly:

I'm 42. I started using computers on Win 3.1, and there was win 95 at college a little later. No audio production there, but the internet was full sail with guys offering education for free without nasty ads and popups. Yhose were yet to be implemented. I bought my first audio production computer in 1999. It had an AMD chipset equivalent to a Pentium 75. It had Band in a Box, Jammer, and Cakewalk Pro Audio 7. It was impossible to record audio into it without choking my computer to death, so I learned to sequence midi and make do with it. There was a fun wavetable synthesiser called Wingroove that made midi a lot more digestible. In 2003, I got my first recording-capable computer and my bedroom studio in 2007, using Sonar and M-Audio's FastTrack Pro. I was never inclined to EDM, I was more of metal head myself, so I always favored recording performances over loops or synths. I can't believe how much time has passed since those early days.
It's good to know old timers make up the gross of the population here.

first computer: pong (got it from my cousins) after that was more of a commodore fan, nowadays i'm in complete denial that i'm really really close to 40 and think i'm just gonna say i'm 10 years younger, my mind tends to think i'm 25 anyways

I started out with win 3.11 in the early 90:s i tried to hook up a synth with thye computer but it didnt work so i gave up
Years later when Win 95 was released i managed to hook up a workstation and bought a Turlte Beach soundcard and managed to record some tracks using a DAW called D.O.P (Digital Orchestration Plus) but i did something and the Midi stop working

I gave up once again according to the Midiproblems and only did audiorecordings using Cubase Vst and Cakewalk Guitar Tracks (mostly Cakewalk as it was dead easy unlike Cubase).

The Bass player in my band bought a Mac and it was plug and play i could not afford a Mac so i was stuck with windows
Eventually i learned how windows worked (as a guitarist i was not that "techminded" we guitarists like knobs not digital parameters).

Then Win Xp was released and now it was plug and play finally after that i have never had a problem with a win computer.

So what if I started out on a 4 track Scully and had 2 MIDI interfaces for my Commodore 64. Might explain my general disgust fo DAWs. :)

I'm 37. I have ever felt old or ageless, only the body reminds me the passing of time. But I think the more important is to keep a flexible mind as long as possible. Like
    :hahaha:

First time I tried to make music on computer was on this:

Things are quite evolving since, but what good memories:wink:
