I never paid Audionews a dime, I'm managing my ratio like it should be.

The comment section is a real gem on every release and people do not digress from the topic (compared to sister site where a lot of comments are removed)

 

Why isn't audionews open up for sign ups this month?

Yep, a few years ago when I first got on there, I decided it would be a good idea to download a 20gb orchestral library that had been on the site for several years. Well that killed my ratio so hard there was no way to recover and they banned me shortly after. Lovely bunch, those guys. lol.

Plus all the data that I supposedly seeded according to my bittorrent client got mysteriously "lost" in the AN tracker...

Guess if I ever get back there I'll have to stick to downloading synth presets ONLY.

 

You probably had what happened to me - a release I'd dl'ed got nuked a few days after dl'ing, they cleared off my upload credit, but not the download credit, so my ratio instantly went to like 3:1

Ratio is the amount of data you upload vs the amount of data you download.

How is torrent ratio calculated?

Your ratio is calculated by how much you have uploaded and downloaded. For example if you uploaded 1gb and download 1gb your ratio would be 1.0 which is good, you have shared back what you have downloaded.

You have to remember that your connection is most likely Assymetrical. Meaning, your upload speedo is capped much lower than your download. So seeding back 1:1 normally takes longer than it does to download the same data.

 

Audionews minimum required ratio is 0.8 but releases get there faster with many seeds.
Audioscene minimum required ratio is 0.2 but releases get there slower with fewer seeds.

 

got signed up alright but now just worried about maintaining the ratio! I think due to closed user group sorta thing, unless you download a fresh out-of-the-box scene, you can't maintain the ratio what they're looking for! getting the jitters of being banned already!

I agree. But as @clone said, one can try to seed what they download and maintain the ratio that AN's looking for.

What still confuses me though is if there's no one else to download what you're seeding, then you still don't meet the requirement

 

I just signed up with no invite needed. Open for registrations 2nd of every month. They operate on Moscow Time (GMT+3 hours). I haven't read their rules yet but on another private tracker I use there is the option of a minimum seeding time (1 month?) OR ratio (0.8). You won't get warned or banned if either of those 2 ways to seed are done. Is that an option at Audionews.org, for the older releases, I wonder?

Sounds like AN is also a relative of AZ.

rutracker unpacks releases and we can select what we want to download. I like options, more convenient to me. It's either AZ or rutracker for me
I mean, AZ and AN are very similar, and I like AZ more. rutracker is different and I like how they unpack & maintain all the release.

It's a ratio game and you have to fight among all other users to maintain the ratio. A little percentage is happy and gets to maintain a good ratio. Everybody else, they gotta invest. I like investing in realdebrid or alldebrid more than AN.

 

Same here, been a member since 2006, never paid a dime, always shared my shit back to at least a 3:0 ratio even if it took 6 months.. With my current ratio of 15:1, about 12TB uploaded/950GB downloaded, all that time spent leaving my torrent client running in the background means I can download whatever the fuck I want from there and never have to worry about it.

Folks dont jump on there and start grabbing 20 year old 'vintage' sample cd's right away because somebody used a preset on some hit 90s club single. We already downloaded those in 2000, they're not good for traffic anymore. Learn how to use torrent sites, AN is no different than any other ratio site and using it wrong will get your account shut off real quick. Grab something new, actually give something back and let it seed for awhile. You wanna play the game, you have to learn how to play it first.
