i can't eq everything out its a headache plus the sound will be altered

i tried autotune/melodyne but i couldn't get there

You could also do something creative with the sample. Many of those "creative-purposed" plugins can wreck the actual quality of the audio anyway. (or how I end up using them).
Throw something like Shade, Volcano, Rift, RKT, something like that, on it and see what you come up with.

So maybe you fix it, and maybe you can't. Replace it, double up another sample, or creatively repurpose it. Hit the Mute button on the channel and go back to it later.

Does it have a clear fundamental? Pitch that one accordingly and the harmonics will follow along.

Odd and even harmonics is called "timbre", which make up the character of a sound. You don't want to change those.

Post an example of what sound you are referring to, so we know what you are talking about.

Wdym harmonics? As Baxter said, is the fundamental ok? Post the audio.
