I don't want to get into the drama of why the new releases are completely fvcked up or whatever but I'm sure I speak for other members when I say that we are completely confused and baffled about what is being released. The stuff is so complex to use now it's practically useless to most of us. Most of us are music producers, not software engineers. Please settle disputes and return back to your old ways.

  6. Yes, there seems a wave of plugins that are trying to be unique, on the edge of the moment in terms of functionality by way of controlling minutiae. Personally I don't want or need such finite control. The only thing I wish that kind of finesse is with a strobe tuner like the Peterson I want to purchase, and for everything else it is OK to be ham handed and brutish.

There are plenty of plugins. Choose the easier ones and get on with music production.

I don't need a compressor or a delay with 23 or more parameters either. It hurts my eyes even looking at it. But do you know what? I just don't use them. In that regard it's a free business. Choose whatever you want and have fun. As my signature says: your noise, your choice

sometimes a karaokee mic or a acoustic guitar and beat box is all you need ( little tape recorders for ideas too)

B-But I like complicated plug-ins D: . Now, being serious, You can just use the simple ones; (on the other hand I'm not sure if you are refering to effect plug-ins or synths)

I guess is a matter of taste; there'll always be people who prefer, let's say, modular topology instead of fixed topology on synths. People who rather have a LA-2A style of comp, and other who would preffer the digital classical one (threshold, ratio, release, attack, make up, knee, input gain).

Not sure how complicated can be, to be honest, but I got your point on simplicity; at the end of the day, use what you like and throw away what you don't; that's what demos are for

One could seriously argue it's going the other way.
One-knob FX and "do-it-for-you" mixing plugs.
I say we're lucky to have what we do have.
It's the information age. Cliff notes are a given.

I have a copy of Windows 3.1 if you'd like it. You could probably get some excellent sounds from the calendar, or Rolodex.

I agree! I prefer user-friendly over extra features. I created more music with a few instruments and a 4-track. There's something to be said for keeping it simple.

Peterson's are great and well worth the investment. I've been using one for years in pedal format but it stays in the studio, All other duties are covered by the really excellent price to quality ratio that is the TC Electronic PolyTune, I have the mini sized PolyTune Noir, A second version one and also and I'll add extremely useful/handy to pack into any live sound engineer/guitar tech toolbox which is the PolyTune clip on version which can be had for around 30 shekels (£/GBP). I'll be grabbing the new version 3 one as it has the bonafide buffer built-in and probably sell the version 2 or the mini sized Noir one. I believe they've released a plug-in version of the PolyTune but I do not know if it beats the Peterson Strobe or the pricing of the plugin.

The difference in such accurate tuners compared to say a BOSS TU tuner pedal or a Korg one is massive, Essential to get the best you can/good call and fine taste you have my friend :D
