Hi, I installed Audio.Ease.Altiverb.v7.0.5.AU.VST.MacOSX-Adobe-patched(HOOK) on Mac os Mojave 14.10.6.
I followed the instructions, but when I loaded the plugin In Logic Pro, I just got a black GUI.
Has anyone been able to solve this issue? Please let me know

I had trouble getting Altiverb to work, the installation program does not open on Big Sur, after some research I found this procedure in a Russian-speaking forum which works for me.
This procedure fully worked in my imac 2011, Big Sur, Logic 10.7.2.
The only two things that don't work for me are the original presets and Waterfall.
If anyone knows where to put the files of «presets» and that they are recognized by the plug-in I will be happy.

Procedure to install Altiverb 7.0.5 on 64 bits macs (intel & M1*)
*Thanks to 41ivx for testing it. (Working but without waterfall in his mac M1, macOS Monterey)
1. Create folders below : «/Applications/Audio Ease/Altiverb 7» folder
2. Inside «Altiverb 7» folder create : «Impulse Responses» folder
3. and inside «Impulse Responses» folder create «Audio Ease IRs» folder
4. Inside «Altiverb 7» folder create : «Presets» folder
5. and inside «Presets» folder create two folder called «Audio Ease» and «User» folder
6. Create folder «/Applications/ilok» folder
From HOOK distribution :
7. Copy two files from «Step 2 - Crack- LIBSTXX 10.10.2 (ALSO WORKS ON 10.11 AND LATER)» folder to «/Applications/ilok» folder
8. Open Terminal and enter these commands (one after the others).
CODE: SELECT ALL
sudo chmod 775 /Applications/ilok/libstXX++.*
CODE: SELECT ALL
sudo chown 0:0 /Applications/ilok/libstXX++.*
CODE: SELECT ALL
sudo codesign -fs - /Applications/ilok/libstXX++.6.0.9.dylib
CODE: SELECT ALL
sudo codesign -fs - /Applications/ilok/libstXX++.6.dylib
7. Open «Step 1 - installers» «Altiverb 7.0.5 Installer.app» via the context menu (ctrl+click = Show package contents)
8. Copy files inside of «Contents/InstallItems» folder to the «/Applications/Audio Ease/Altiverb 7» folder
9. Move contents of the «irs» folder (/Applications/Audio Ease/Altiverb 7/irs) to the «/Applications/Audio Ease/Altiverb 7/Impulse Responses/Audio Ease IRs» folder
10. Move contents of the «presets» folder (/Applications/Audio Ease/Altiverb 7/presets) to the «/Applications/Audio Ease/Altiverb 7/Presets/Audio Ease» folder
11. Copy AU cracked plug-in from «Step 3 - Patched/AU» folder to «/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components» folder
12. Copy VST cracked plug-in from «Step 3 - Patched/VST» folder to «/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST» folder
13. Launch you DAW and open the Altiverb 7 plugin.

 

Maan, i remember almost losing my hair trying to install this and giving up. Is this reverb really worth the hassle to go through?

 

Yes, but things like this can be way more difficult right after a release. Years later, people have written good explanations and instructions, tested on multiple configurations, etc. Example, many people with this black gui problem had the issue on Catalina, but when they updated to Big Sur it "fixed itself".

 

I followed your instructions to install the plugin, but the issue continues. Thank you for your assistance; I greatly appreciate it.

 

I can't upgrade my old Hackintosh machine further than Mac OS Mojave ;)

The Altiverb 8 license can be activated by iLok on your machine (computer) or on an iLok USB Key (generation 2 or newer).
The physical iLok USB key is NOT required.
iLok Cloud is not supported.

Have you Update Logic Pro to v11.1 and Update your system's graphics drivers,

Resetting the plug-in cache: Sometimes resetting the plugin cache in Logic Pro can help. You can do this by closing Logic Pro and then deleting the cache folder.

 

I have Mojave on my 5,1 Pro. I'll give it a try. I had it installed on High Sierra before on the same machine, but most people with the black GUI were on Mojave and Catalina. If you disable SIP you can move the modified dylibs into the protected system location. that old Ho0k method allows you to just put the dylib files into /applications/ilok folder with SIP still enabled. If you disable SIP, you can just move the libstdc++ dylib files into the same location as all the other iLok bypass releases.

 

Some of this had to do with the way each of these systems was handling the graphics, and openGL vs Metal I believe. It fixed itself when I updated to Monterey via Opencore. The plugin is still a little funky graphics wise but works well. And yes, this reverb is worth every hassle. Especially if doing anything orchestrally.

 

Yep. It's a "bug" introduced at Mojave, I believe. Most complaints about this issue were from users on Mojave and Catalina. The main difference from High Sierra 10.13.6 to Mojave !0.14 was the metal compliant graphics card requirement.

I got the black GUI to occur on Mojave when I installed it. But in Logic, you can just change the view from Cocoa View to Controls and we can then control every parameter as text values and sliders, etc. The GUI graphic version is certainly nicer, but for me a heavy IR based reverb like this is almost always "set and forget" anyway, with no automation or ducking. All it does is create the space the IR simulates.

I can screw around with it some more, but I think this black GUI is likely a dead end on Mojave. I'll happily use it as it is inside Logic 10.5 over a GUI in Logic 10.4 on High Sierra. That's a very easy decision.

 

You're right about the black screen bug. Although the plugin is fairly useable with the control view, I'd like to use it in coca view.
I've tried moving some stuff, such as the Altiverb 7.bundle file, without success.
Can you screw around with it the plugin install and see if you find a possible fix?
I'd highly appreciate it.
