I have pm'd members that commented on old releases with broken links and they sent me what I was looking for and done the same for others on dmca'ed post. I have contributed without expecting anything in return and people have done the same way more often than myself. Anyone can easily find the sister site and download everything that's posted here without an account. Never once have someone gatekept anything from me nor have I done it to others. You are experiencing cognitive dissonance at the moment, please educate yourself.

While it is true that stuff is "available" there and releases are posted regularly, the true fact is unless you are paying a "free file download service" a lot of stuff there is inaccessible unless you're willing to wait a millennia for anything larger than 1 GB or so... Luckily with respect to accessibility there are other truly free avenues of procurement rather than having to pay for access to stuff that by definition you shouldn't have to be paying for... That said, AZ and AS are both invaluable resources given the climate of the release scene in the fact they are a sounding board for stuff that just plain sucks, or that is not worth the time to DL.. It's comforting having resource's like these to separate the good stuff from the chaff. Of course if all software dev's built stuff that didn't suck, or always lived up to their hyped potential we might not need these kinds of resources - but in reality we all know that will never happen.
