I've waaay more often seen 'I want, I want, I want, please, please, please, please, please, I need this soooo much, ...' like six year old kids.
I mean sure, there's a request section and I'm fine with that (why should I not?) but there's a difference between asking and begging - or in your case demanding.

This discussion is purely academic, and there is no value to it. Only Kant's categorical imperative is a moral system worth considering. Solipsism is everywhere. Talking about the problem won't fix the worlds, change must occur from the ground up.

 

You try to determine what is right and wrong and you justify your ban on discussion with Kant. Talking is always the beginning. Without people talking to each other, there are no solutions at all.

Talking or writing is always the beginning. Moreover, you generalize about the whole world. Stay factual and on topic. The topic starter has made his experiences public. Everyone has the right to express their opinion freely, whether they like it or not.

Someone with this same outlook and argument lashed out at me and others not too long ago.

It's not a dick swinging contest. If you're a contributor that's great, nobody owes you anymore than a "Thank You"

Nobody owes you or the rest of us anything, people share what they can when they can.

Also, when someone does share things with the community they have no obligation to check in
with anyone and announce the inventory they've shared.

Egoism? Yeah, that could be applicable but not towards people that do share and not towards people that cannot
or choose not to whatever the reason may be.

This post reads like a veiled guilt trip.

I personally am not going to stroke anyone's ego just because they shared or supposedly shared and
I wouldn't expect anyone else to either, nor would I expect it for myself.

For my point of view this community is composed by few very generous givers, a lot of grateful takers (that sometimes are givers as well)... and from time to time little entitleds pops ups. I see no egoism at all here.

I knew I couldn't be the only one who'd immediately assumed that's where this guy was coming from.

 

You cannot force or guilt anyone into donating anything. This is the opposite of what our community is about.
