Errr... Nope. The majority of gaming laptops deploy one unified thermal solution with heatpipes and dual fans, one for the graphics card and one for the cpu. If you don't put load on the gpu, fans don't make noise.
By rule of thumb, gaming laptops are the closest to what a musician on a average budget needs, since they are designed for performance but they are not workstations which deploy Quadros and Radeon Pros for graphics, making the cost of such a laptop much higher.
Absolutely not. Dell is third in laptops worldwide and as Lenovo, they have a ton of various laptops, and as with ALL laptops, experience depends on the model, so what you say about latency is at least innacurate, i wonder where do you get your info from.
Lenovo has some of the best laptops around and is the number 1 laptop manufacturer in the world, also their warranty is excellent as is their support dept. Actually the Thinkpad X1 Carbon is top in my list and absolutely recommended.
    Cheers

    Take a look at this:
    Lenovo ThinkPad P73 Mobile Workstation

There are other models that offer comparable specs to the Asus. I like the P73 (17") for the obvious reason, more screen space.

Also prefer desktops & laptops built for production work with production level NVIDIA Quadro graphics. Gaming laptops are built primarily for just that & often require tweaking of BIOS & system settings to get things ready for production workloads in my experience.

Lenovo is a proven platform for professionals with excellent support if ever needed.
