just don't buy it, pick something else. 1.5k for a motherboard is just insane.

i think asus and evga is the best manufacturers of motherboards, they provide massive features that other manufacturers cant afford or create. And stability on systems is much better. Gigabyte really sucks with their ITE I/O controllers XD)

As of late, ASUS (and others), are proving to be anti-consumer along with releasing inferior/flawed products. As long as people keep buying these products from those companies, nothing will change.

ASRock is one com[any that has actually improved over the past three years. Their entry level products have features normally reserved for the mid-tier. All while keeping pricing reasonable.

Keep in mind the following as an example:
    • Corporate greed taking advantage of supply shortages and demand during the first two years of the pandemic
    • Creating false shortages (a long proven strategy)
    • Peoples willingness to purchase products in these conditions based on want, not actual need.
    • Not taking the time to thoroughly research product & pricing

If a new system is not mission critical, can you your current system be upgraded for better performance with parts that can be transferred to a new build later?
    • Replacing HDD with SSD.
    • 32GB to 64GB of RAM for normal to heavy plugin use
    • 64GB to 128 for heavy plugin or VSTi Orchestral sessions
    • Removal of dust & sediment (q-tips are your friend)
    • Re paste of CPU, graphics card
    • Determining if your CPU cooler is more than adequate. Like those found in Dell, HP & Lenovo workstations. Very good heat dissipation.
As a closing comment. Apple is known for having an average 400% margin for their products. Aah, the Apple Ecosystem...

found the same model @ a local dealer for 600€, way less than half the amazon price. will go there tomorrow and see what they say.

my concern is there will be a new revision without the x3d issues, but i`m having my vacation now, dont want to wait,

and, going on 70 soon, this may well be my last pc build...

Obvs it's your money, and if it'll make you happy then go for it.

But imo €600 for a motherboard is insane.

Good! Amazon pricing is out of control. Newegg has been surprising me lately with more normal & reasonable pricing for their "shipped by Newegg" products. Always worth looking at other retailers & on-line sellers.

Understand building one last good system . Will be retirement age later this year myself.

So it had all the good features: EPU, TPU,
Backup BIOS, instant recovery BIOS, USB recovery BIOS.. and all the rest of goodies.

It has been powered-on ever since, and it's still running strong in 2023

It's crazy that nowadays mobos 2-4 times the price don't seem to give you as much..

You'd have to take a ASUS ProArt or something, and it will be allright on the most part,
but I don't recall seeing them with those BIOS backup/recovery features.

What happened all this while? :dunno:

Are Chipsets all that much expensive to manufacture now?
    I don't think so..
