I have successfully installed the R2rR analog lab 4 with the v collection 7.2 installer, but I have one particular problem. I previously had the Arturia V 6 collection installed(which had analog lab 3), and I am not sure how to have my DAW(Reaper) load my previous projects where I used Analog Lab 3 with my new VST set up, loading it as Analog Lab 4, without having to change any settings or anything. Do I have to find the .dll and rename it? Are they not compatible?

I know it may depend on the specific VST, for example, from EZdrummer 1 to 2, just renaming the .dll worked, but for Bias FX 1 to 2, the VST was developed not to be compatible.

    Thanks in advance

I'm guessing you're on a pc.. Not sure what you're saying about the.dll (I'm a mac user), but I can say that v7 is very different than v6, in terms of GUI, plugin selection, etc so if you're trying to use AL4 to open v6? may be an issue..

Not quite. I uninstalled v6. what I'm referring to are old songs and projects in which I used the earlier version of V collection with Analog lab 3. When I open an old song, it tells me my VST is missing. Analog lab 4 and V collection are not opening the VST. This means I either must recreate the synth or have no sound from that track. Does that make sense? Here are 2 images of what happens when I open Reaper with a project where I used Arturia V collection. The red in the second picture indicates that the plugin/effect is disabled and/or unable to play

Pretty sure its not compatible. I would try installing the previous versions that were working, noting down the presets, or saving the presets if you've changed stuff, replacing the plugins with v7 and opening those presets again. (Or you could bounce them to audio and transition to AL4 and V7 from now)

found this: "I figured it out, AL4 failed to uninstall AL3 properly because the DLL was in a custom path. Deleting Analog Lab 3.dll made it work again."

I had a similar problem with Superior Drummer 3 with an old Dll file not removed. Easy to overlook and a right pain to realise what the problem is :)

I found out the problem. It wasn't really as complicated as I thought. I was having errors while installing and also the installer freezing a bunch of times. I wasn't sure what was going wrong, but I was changing with installation settings to see if anything there was causing the error and trying until it installed properly. The one time it worked, I had only installed VST3 and not VST2. I looked at my previous folder, and I I had analog lab 3 vst3 files, so I figured it would have worked. Had to reboot my PC, Uninstall, then reinstalled, until the full installation went without errors. VST2 was the problem.

Current problem I'm having is with the preset browser. Saving favorite patches(clicking the little heart) doesn't seem to work, and the browser doesn't seem to fully search the library. For example, out of the 6K-8K patches, if I toggle to search for "multi", only one patch comes up, but manually searching through patches, there are patches with multi's.that's just 2 examples so far. I'm guessing I'm gonna need to tinker with the presets folder and database folders.

Arturia are a complete pain .. They have now changed Jup-8 from V3 to V4 on the Dll file so now old projects won't see it. Why don't they just have the version number on the properties info not the Name of the Dll ?!! Stupid .
