Hey guys im about to get my first analogue synth and ive really brought it down to these two, im a drum & bass producer who makes genres ranging from hard hitting neuro to jungle i'm really looking for a synth to make naughty basslines on, i understand a lot of resampling would take place after but for the initial sound and grit what should i go for?

 

cant really compare the 2 to eachother, the bassstation has a bigger range of sounds, dont let the name fool you, it's not just for bass. the minibrute is a more harsh synth, can make some great sounds on it and push it to sounds that are so, well, brutal that you will wonder if you still like them, making them to just before that point is advised, i really like it for bass sounds and some lead stuff, pure analog but no memory for storing patches, tho it does have it in an analog way, a tecnique called overlay sheets

 

Have you tried Diva? It rumbles like my vintage MS-20 which may be getting retired soon

 

if you need the cv connectivity take the brute if not take the bs2

 

Both are great. I've used both and owned a BS-II, I'd say start with the Bassstation. Both can sound nasty. BS-II is more feature rich than the Minibrute. But the Minibrute can sound convincing.

huh, today Ireceived an email that minibrute is waiting for me at the shop. days later and I will take it home)) bs is cool as well...but my next one will be ms20 mini...maybe..

 

Personally I would go with the BassStation.
But I would highly recommend having a play on both of them first. My heart was set on the Brute... but change to the BS when I played them both.

I bought a Sub Phatty a week later lol

All I'm after is a real ms- 20 (I believe B- version for low noise Mic input)
Heard diva in different studios but didn't really get into it

HARDWARE all the way. If you don't believe me then you are living in denial. Fact a mundo peeps!

 

If I want to make some new ideas it's the recall and fiddling about with the MS-20 that gets me, although I do like it sometimes as it's very therapeutic When it comes to DIVA you need a good interface and switch the quality setting to "divine". I think it's pretty awesome. You can also run some plugin like Satin on the track
