What is your system used to compose music? Explain your motivations too. Thank you.

not this again, it dont matter what you use for music production, its what you do with it that matters, software are your tools, you can have a 4k system and produce shit or you can have a cheap laptop and make gr8 music, its what you do with those tools that matters not what system or DAW you use.

It only ends up in Mac-Win-Linux quarreling.
No one can tell the machines and sofwares one uses to produce from a given end product.
    It just doesn't matter.

this question should be asked every week, if not every minute; it's that important. and, let's be honest; the best music is of course made on the better platform (that's just a fact).......

    im on both!

desktop pc for heavy treatment, 13" macbook for full sketches (often even manage to make everything on it), ios (7plus) for fun/spontaneity like drum-programming, discover new sounds etc

  18. These are IMO really good questions, but they fail based upon how people choose to discuss them. Creativity is not about the final artifact, unless you are a consumer - it is all about the process. And like in any art or artisanry, the tools often do matter a great deal. Where this all falls apart is that there is too much hype, so people approach even the tools with a consumerist attitude.

There is such a cookie-cutter mentality that people tend to approach music tools as if they all basically did similar things, in similar ways. Which IMO is really an indictment of both the music industry, AND music software industry in cultivating a demand for samey products. When you dig beyond that, what software tools you use often do depend upon your OS. And how you tweak your system for optimal performance is a major factor as well.

Of course, with regards to any probably recurring topic, it bears reminding people to search prior discussions which may have already yielded worthwhile answers.
