I was looking into these plugins yesterday, felt kinda excited to try them, but the novelty wore off before I even downloaded them. Everything is more barebones than what comes with your DAW.

I hope they fixed the latency bug in the 8068, that one might be cool to keep if it's 1% or less CPU per instance.

Clearmountain’s Domain, Spaces and Phases are pretty complex plugins and the ones I’m looking to try. And also maybe test the 8068 against Kit Plugin’s BB N105.

 

Yeah, if we're talking about effects, sure. I was referring to the EQ, channel strip, LA-3A, the brute mixing stuff, but I wasn't clear enough.

 

They already put them on sister site. Great decision making at work moving them to PA....

 

Just tried some of them. 8068 is pretty decent, I can see myself using it sometimes. Opto-3A sounded good, there aren't many 3As available to use, so this one is definitely welcome. Also tried Dance (fine?) and Domain (also fine). My overall verdict is that those plugins are just... okay. I unfortunately can't see anything crazy about it other than it now leaving the state of unobtanium. Definitely nothing that you haven't seen before. But hey, you can use it for free now.

I only kept the 3A and 8068, and there's a chance the latter won't survive the next purge. I think the VoosteQ Model N is a much better strip with more colors to choose. The worst of all is, as I expected, that the plugins are extremely barebones. 8068 is ugly, the knobs are pixelated, you have zero feedback of what you're doing, you just turn the flimsy knobs and hope for the best. Between this and the Brainworx strips (even if you take away the dynamics), it's not even a fight.

I can't think of many examples, but Vertigo's plugins works for my point; some things do actually get ported copies when they move under the PA umbrella. These used to be higher priced. Are they a PA recoded job or true to the originals, and were the originals all that great to begin with?

 

the channel strip sounds great on synths.. but i think universal audio s waay better. the space modulation stereo effects sound weird. and un natural. and the delay is simple.. not bad tho.. but.. for example fab filter plugins are way better. well and the equalizers great

Personally look at that thing as suitable placeholder for Tim's 31102, later will open up hi end immediately when replaced and have everything that is good about it, couldn't shell out what they were asking before, now will for PA discount price.

 

I've always seen developers giving up portions of their sales, with PA basically running some kind of protection racket. Shows what I know.
