I will skip the snobbery part. Pointless really.
I will only say that, if his self built speaker pair was really accurate enough to be mastering grade or even high end mixing, made for 2k, he would start his own brand and easily sell those for 10k-15k, instead of selling "services" in the form of so called "courses" for petty money.
A bit like what Tom Barefoot did and now his products have found home in too many studios and hailed as some of the best monitors ever. That is how you do it, if you really have something substantial to offer. The rest... we all know what the rest is.

EDIT: Some 19-18 years ago when i was building my studio at the time, i happened to hear Barefoot's only model back then, the MiniMain and i was blown away. I only had an email contact so i emailed him thinking that he will never answer back. Not only did he answer me and very kindly too, but he offered to sell me a pair for 12k dlrs. My excitement only lasted a day, next day calling my accountant i found out that it would cost me another 10k because i had to pay a "luxury" import tax.
He had no European dealers at the time and it was a dead end for me because even without the tax it was out of my budget. I was thinking i'll cut some expenses and buy these. But with the added tax i couldn't make it even with his kind offer. I did thank him for the offer and wished him best of luck. What an amazing guy. He really deserves the success he's got imho. Btw, those speakers now cost ~30k euros here.

You just had to go there, eh? The Mudskipper both can climb trees and can be the main ingredient in a delicious one pot meal.

 

yeah, they been cross breeding with the squirrels in my neighborhood, can't seem to keep em out of the attic when the cold weather comes. Kinda strange the first time you see a fish with nuts..
