Nope i think Akai pulled a d*ck move by charging Renaissance owners to upgrade to v2 ,well at least for that much..especially after they took so long to get it usable and at least to maschine standards. They sound card was buggy and crap for years which defeated the purpose of having a soundcard built in to your controller and worse yet it being an "audio" production piece.

I've since been using my maschine studio waaay more, which is a shame as the ren had the potential to be an all in one beast. Not gonna bother upgrading ..might just sell the ren.

i think to buy a mpc for about 10 yeard but never bought one :D because i think there are better vst like fxpansion guru or vengeance phalanx bevause u can easy add ur own tons of library and they have real time envelope to move th adsr etc that the mpc dont had in past
    maybe one day

Is it possible to run the MPC2 software in demo mode as its previous, please ?
I would love to try and compare it to my previous experience with version 1 before even thinking about spending money again for aka stuff.

    [EDIT]
    yes it is possible

you miss one important point here. When using an MPC or Maschine you will get a dedicated hardware with knobs and buttons. You wont get such kind of deep interaction with software only. Even with an pad controller or something else.
When I want to sample Something , I press the Sample Button on Maschine. When I like to see the mixer I press the Mixer Button etc ...
    :)
But it all depends on what you are looking for. If you prefer to work with an DAW and don't care about hardware workflow there are better things than Maschine or MPC out there as you stated.

I have similar experience, I was so thrilled as I saw the Ren first time that I instantly bought it. Bad decision, it was so buggy and useless that I sold it and got a Maschine Studio instead which works quite nice.

The only attractive thing about the new MPC is that you can run it in standalone mode.
But before investing again in buggy stuff I'd rather try it first, at least the software. :)

the software is actually pretty nice by itself.

does anyone know what kind of protection MPC Software 2.1 has?
so to know if there is any hope in seeing a release in the near future ...

iLOK, btw without the hardware you miss alot of the workflow, same as wioth Maschine.

    I compared both , i prefer Maschine

same here tried both, liked the mpc software more, i must confess i gave up on maschine after a couple of times, i felt that is really only meant to work with the hardware, only the software didn't feel intuitive at all. the mpc software though (with the MPD32 btw), that got me making beats in no time.

they released a 2.1 update of the software last week.
hope there are plans on a scene-release for this one.

Yes. My problem with it, you can't see clearly the background as in machine software. it's really boring!

I love my MPC Studio, but I confess that most of the time, I basically treat it like a controller. The DAWs I use are way better than the software, but I'm on 1.9.6 or whatever the last update was before they went to 2. Unless you really like the MPC software workflow, check out on the of the new MPD controllers instead; the pads are fantastic, and I think the MPD218 is under $100 American now.

interesting, I tried the Maschine Software first without harwdare and I loved its simplicity. Especially the Sample handling and editing is much more my taste than the MPC. Is there even a visual Mulstisample Editor in the MPC ? The only thing I lieked about the MPC is the easy sample layering

I don't know. But there is a Demo Period. Using the software without Harwdare do not make sense in my opinion anyways. There are much better Drum Samples such as Battery available if you just want software.
MPC and Maschine is all about the Hardware Workflow

just checking if anyone here knows if there is a chance of seeing the mpc software released?

I know little of what sorts of protection are or aren't currently "fixed"

    cheers

I do too. I like its layout and workflow over that of MPC

still would like to know if its protection is the kind probable to get released or not.

I know earlier releases happened but maybe something changed along in later updates?
