I just noticed it says to create a new password for every site that requires a password. I have one better: use a different web browser and OS for every website that requires a password! Yeah, that'll fix those hackers!!
    Happy New Year all!

    I use bitwarden free.
It's the basics of surfing internet securely. It's the minimum everybody must do.
I use firefox with the extension - multi-account containers.

The best way to not get in a car wreck is to not ride in a car.

Just use Bitwarden, better, safer and open-source.

lol, u guys missed the point. having a thousand different passwords might be safe, but it's unbelievably impractical. Password saving software is not practical (using a work computer with certain network limitations that will not allow u to install extensions or software, for example...) and frankly it's over the top, in the sense that if a hacker can hack your password in the first place... he can hack your password! What difference will it make if u have 100 different passwords??? I have about 4 different passwords in use, rotating as the security on the site allows (different sites call for 8-12 characters, alphanumeric with special characters, et c.) why have a different password for everything u sign in on?

    i recommend Bitwarden Premium !! $ 10 a year !!
it lets you know which site you have an account on was breached.
if you use common password on multiple sites then it'll ask you to change them cause
the breachers might input that password on multiple sites.
and Bitwarden works like a treat on ios and android and web browsers.

I just write everything down on a notebook...
If a hacker can obtain one password, they have access to any account you used that password on. My reasoning is that if they were able to obtain your password in the first place - which to be fair nowadays is very difficult given the tech and precautions you can take, such as 2FA - they can probably find out what other accounts you have. Not necessarily ones with the same password, but that won't stop them from trying said password.

Again, it's very tinfoil hat to have a hundred+ passwords. Cybercrime of this type doesn't happen that often, and the vast majority is because a person had a simple to crack password or the password was left exposed. Hackers, in all reality, rarely hack to find a password. And the effort is strenuous at best, as such a hacker with any intelligence isn't gonna hack a simple joe like me. They target victims, obviously for a payoff. To go through such an effort to hack a password for a big bank payoff of $1073.21... yeah go at it. Let alone the risk of getting caught which is pretty high according to the cybercrime division. It's just not a reality. If you are smart enough to thwart even basic password security these days, ur smart enough to make it worth it.
I concede it happens, but the inconvenience of trying to remember a hundred + passwords (as is the premise of this thread), vs having a few... well safer to walk to California than risk getting in a car, yeah?

I use Opera and it has it's own built in password manager.
I think Firefox has one called Lockwise, not 100% sure but it has one whatever it's called.
I just dump all mine into an encrypted file as well...
