The pkg installers keep crashing (using OSX 10.9.1) after inserting serial.

I opened the pkg's using Pacifier and there are only two folders in there, one containing the vst, dpm, aax and component plugs and one containing a folder for that VST to go into Applications > Sugar Bytes. I thought I was cunning in extracting them and placing them where they are meant to be manually. However, there are a couple of glitches.

    1. Sugar Bytes uses a serial during install process, so can't get them authorised

    2. None their presets show up and can't seem to find a way to link the VTS to it's presets.

Anyone else had any success? I mainly want Cyclop, WOW2 and Effectrix.

I've installed all three of those with no problem on OSX 10.8.5, so it sounds like a peculiarity with Mavericks.

make sure your drive right click get info is unlocked to read and write
also under system security make sure to allow all programs to run, Maverick was built to be a pain for installing cracked software, if that's what your trying to accomplish

There is a problem with SugarBytes installers on Mavericks. They knew about it a bit after the release of Mavericks and have already fixed it. Unfortunately, there is no k'd of the new installers.

I got the plugins working by running the installer as normal, entering the serial, then after the installer crashed, just used Pacisfist to install the files to the default location (do not manually move them, just right click and install to default location). I've successfully installed WOW, WOW2, Cyclop, and Effectrix doing this. Presets will only show up if they are in the correct location which is Documents/Sugar Bytes/[Plugin Name]/

Alternatively, you could buy the plugins to get the more recent installers.

Cheers pimpdrop! Will give it a go.

However, just realise where the problem lies.....ish. Effectrix installs fine and that is the only one of Sugar Bytes' pkg's that does not install a RTAS and AAX version. Therefore, using common sense, I reckon the problem lies in them. Perhaps if there were a way to strip them two out of the pkg it would then install fine (as long as you only use AU and VST anyway)?

Hmm.. Bunford? This is OT but if VI-C folks spot your themes here, the legit Mob will rip you a 2nd one shouting "buy before you try" before they completely ignore you

Bit tricky to use the same name throughout, but of course you are free to give a damn or not, I'm just saying... :)

The case of user " Plasuma!!! " without quotes may give you an impression of the latent hostility, so checking out the threads he posted in at VI provides interesting insight.

    Cheers

Sorry to digg up this old thread.
Trying to install Obscurium version 1.05 from sister site.(with included R2R PC keygen).
I am getting an error when running the .pkg installer file and then the installer hangs with spinning beachball.

Assuming it could be a permission problem i tried in Terminal:
sudo chmod -R 755 and then dragged the .pkg file onto Terminal and hit enter.
    No succes ..
Any one to the rescue please ?
    Thx in advance !
(BTW: I am on Catalina OSX 10.15.3)

Have you tried opening the pkgs with Pacifist and installing the content from there?

it's probably just catalina itself, it's dont do play nice with a lot of stuff, no work around as far as i know.

you'll need the latest installers from sugar bytes, those are confirmed by sugar bytes. older ones won't work, could be due to them still using 32-bit code in the installers but it could also be something else.

Thank you for helping me !
Yes, that's what exactly crossed my mind also.
The latest version of Obscurium i see on sister site is 1.05.
Can't discover on sugarbytes site which version number is the latest (assuming that version is Catalina compatible).

    Yup, i did that.
But with the Pacifist install method, there is no window popping up during install, for inputting a serial.
When i then open Obscurium, i see the text "invalid serial" in it's GUI.
And i assume this will lead eventually to a timebomb or so.

Ok, I'll have a look in High Sierra if there's another option to store the license.
The issue with Catalina is that installers need to be digitally signed now to run. Cool devs update these installers, money greedy batches don't and just say, "well your Maschine mk1 hardware controller driver is no longer supported, so go fuck yourself". I still manged to get it to work using Pacifist. But I see how that's an issue if you have to enter the serial in the installer.

SB serials are stored in a plist in Users/Preferences.

If installed with Pacifist, open the related plist, look for <serial> and add it manually.

Yup, I just had a look. It's stored in your User > Library > Application Support > Preferences Folder. "com.sugar-bytes.Obscurium"

If the plist does not exist you can install the demo (the installer works with catalina) and the the plist will be created.

Edit the plist and change the integer for <key>"isDemo"</key> from "1" to "0" and then enter your serial (last entry in the list)
