Debian? Well, 99% of the time I just install it and use it. Browser and the essential apps that I usually use are all already installed. I just usually uninstall LibreOffice and install Abiword instead. I find all "Office" apps completely unnecessary. Bloated junk whoever makes it. I use GEdit for everything, actually - texts and the text database.

"How easy to use" depends greatly on the desktop environment [GUI] you choose. Some people like their DEs flashy and complicated, some people like them flashy and uncomplicated, some people like them very minimal and complicated, some people like them kinda minimal and uncomplicated like me. :winker: I rate Unity, Gnome 3 ,and KDE most complicated, MATE [Gnome 2] Xfce and LXDE kinda minimal and easy/fast to use, and Openbox, FVWM and similar DEs very minimal and somewhat complicated to use/configure. But OpenBox works beautifully once you configure it and uses minimal resources. However, after a couple of years I seem to have finally settled for MATE. It reminds me the most of Windows XP that I really like.

So when people ask me what distro should they go with as Linux newbies, I usually tell them Ubuntu MATE or Debian MATE. Why not Mint? Because Mint doesn't get updated as often.

I forgot to finish the sentence because I was with a client on the phone. :winker: Mint doesn't get security fixes and updates as fast and as often as Debian. I personally also experienced more buggy behaviour in general with Mint than with Debian. So why does so many people like to use Mint? I don't know. But the thing about Linux is that things change year by year. What used to be stable becomes buggy and vice versa. Maybe Mint has become better in the mean time [it's been two years since I tried it]. MATE used to be buggy as hell at the time so I used Xfce DE. But now [v1.12] MATE feels solid as a rock. It is OK because it's a rather new DE.

Damn it, I have so much fun with Linux like I've never had with Windows. :hahaha: Linux revoked my interest in experimenting with OSes and different desktop environments. On this computer I have installed Gnome 3, Gnome 2, and MATE DEs. All on Debian 7.9. But I use only MATE [for?] now.
