I basically have a shitload of drum breaks that I need to chop into one shots. And it's going to take me a lifetime and a half to do it all manually one break at a time.. PLEASEEE tell me somebody knows of a batch processing program that will allow me to load up all my drum breaks and chop them!!

I've tried Waveknife and Zero-X Beatquantizer..Waveknife sucks balls, it only accepts 16 bit/44.1k files and it doesn't chop til the end of the tails because the parameters are so restrictive. It hasn't been updated in 8 years or so... so it's really a primitive program anyway.

Zero-X Beatquantizer actually autochops GREAT but when I export for some reason the audio is always destroyed and distorted to hell no matter what settings I apply.

Adobe Audition would work PERFECTLY as I can create a script to batch chop all my drum breaks and it will do it efficiently BUT it won't let you export all the individual chops...it just exports the file with the slice markers. Then I have to go to another program to extract the chops...unless I am missing something.

Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

have you tried "propellerheads recycle" ? if not, take a look \ give it a try... it's a "specialist in that"

but i think (doesn't know it really) you always have to make some more or less small manually finetunings if you slice samples or\and export them all, some of the wav's are maybe "silence ones"...

if you a "samplitude" user take also a look at the "Remix Agent", after this tool locate with you the maintempo (by analysing and "click's") this tool seperate your whole track finally (if wanted) in to perfect small fragments (but it works only with some longer files and not short drum loops\samples, for this ones you have to make again manually cut\move\replace things after activate a grid and snapping for objects with the right mastertempo in samplitude)

    sorry 4 tha bad english

    Tracer,

Yea Recycle is my go to tool for chopping breaks. But the thing is it doesn't do batch processing. You still have to chop one break at a time.

someone here had written a script a while bk to work with a soft carrying out automated tasks and basically convert
any wave files into rex ones (recylce format)...and though it worked you still had to chop it up yourself

actually I tried to find what you're looking for already, and it just doesn't exist for the simple reason
that no software is clever enough to know what's right from wrong when slicing up your audio file...so your only
tools here are industriousness and patience I'm afraid

recycle is especially designed to slice up audio so you should have a look at it..though it's true not all DAW can read REX files

Actually, I think there are a few programs that chop pretty intelligently. Audition is VERY good at it, it actually let's you set the parameters in great detail. I've had success slicing my chops with it and had to do almost no adjustments. So I'd feel pretty confident in running a batch in Audition if there was just a way to export the slices...as of now I don't know of a way. I use Audition 3, maybe they have addressed this in the newer releases.

Another good program is Slicex in FL Studio. I does a very good job of autochopping. But the same issue is it cannot run a batch.

    Such is life lol

Soundforge does all the jobs in batch process.
Cut, slice and export anything you like.
It's the most complete tool for audio.
You can do anything in batch process, even change the volume or cut out silence in batch.

I work as sound designer and do my final shaping of exported samples always in Soundforge.
Trim audio at same level and more...

All others lack in any section and make me feel uncomfortable.
Even Wavelab has less features for batch process.

Soundforge can definitely do what I need to do....BUT.... in order for me to load up all my breaks, then apply the regions with the settings I need... I need to write a script :(

Unfortunately, it doesn't let you just record your input like Adobe Audition...

There is already a script that let's you export the regions as separate files....just not to add regions.

Actually... I figured a workaround....just load all WAV's inside the same window, apply autoslice and use the script to export all regions... all I had to do was edit the script to export as WAV instead of PCA..

    Thanks dude!
