    A bit of both probably.

They do voice differently but there is also the issue of comfort for the purpose. A smaller guitar might not be as loud or have as much bass but if you are on your couch or in a small room that will not matter as much to you. There is also nut width, string spacing if you are going to play fingerstyle vs pattern strumming etc... The difference aren't as big s they are with synths but it's mostly just curiosity and a bit of lust.

I've never bought something to resell it or as "investment" I personally don't see the point but some people like to play that game.

It's just some fun and it's not only just guitars or just six strings. When you are bored you pick something up and it keeps your mind occupied for a bit.

    That's it.
Actually none of my guitars and basses sound the same.
If you compare a Telecaster, a Stratocaster, a Les Paul, A 335, a Hollow body, and a P90, none sounds the same. I even have modified guitars to obtain specific sounds, ie: Full Tron with mini humbucker.
Same thing for basses, Precision Bass, Jazz Bass, Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor, Sire M7, Warwick Thumb none sound the same..

    Thanks for the answers.
It's weird because I've been mixing records for almost 25 years and could never identify which guitar is which. I'm also not a guitar player so that doesn't help. I mean, I can obviously tell the difference between an acoustic and an electric guitar but if we are talking only electric guitar, I can't tell you who play which kind without checking the rec notes.
I had a Godin Hollow body with a P90 a few years back ( it think it was called a 5th avenue and it was all black and smelling like fresh wood, wonderful object really ) but that shit hurt my fingers and my wrist so much that I decided to resell it a few years later. I mean, it was a cheap guitar but it was enough for me to understand that I'm too much of an old fart procrastinating to start to play guitar (I like to tell me that before going to bed so I don't feel guilty of being a lazy bastard)

Yes, it's the same in germany. The inflation rate is not as high as in the US, but the taxes hurt a lot. Germany has the highest taxes in the world. The same is true for energy costs. Add to that energy and tax reforms that drive that up further. I just had to invest 17K in a new heating system. That was necessary after 25 years. On the other hand, I invested a good amount in gold and silver when the corona crap started. That protects me at least a little in the long term. I have canceled unnecessary cost factors, like streaming subscriptions, etc.

No idea, i detached myself from chilean society and decided to live as a hermit...Kind of. I don't have a lot expenses aside from the basics, and while those may have risen a little bit it's nothing too bad (but can see it being a problem for other people). I do see a lot of people complaining about the housing prices and all though, so i guess we're on the same boat there.

I'll let you know how things are next time a national catastrophy happens and i'm forced out of the woods to see what's going on.
