    Hi folks

I have an odd question - at least I guess most of you think that - and it is:

If you have a Kontakt library wich is in NCW-format (compressed format) .. are you then able to convert all these NCW-files back to the original WAV-files??

If there´s a thread for this already, Im really sorry about it, but I´ve searched and found nothing here!!

    Thanks in advance

Guess I already found the answar:

Converting compressed Kontakt samples back to wav-files
Just a little tip, in case you want to use samples compressed in Kontakt 4's ncw format in other samplers:
Resave the patch including the samples as follows:
Click on the tool icon on the upper left, the GUI opens->choose save as-> "patch and samples" - untick the little box "compress samples"->determine a location other than the original folder->the samples will be saved in wav format and you can use them in your DAW or any other sampler.

    Will test it now!!

    Working!

    I dissagree.
Sometimes it's quicker to fire off a questions in a forum and get one or more answers, often from different angles or different / alternative ways of performing an operation.

As a bonus - other readers of the forum get to learn something new or other tip/trick too.

    @ Phloopy,

Here also, you're not alone ! *no*

It's well known that a really 'famous', and certainly one of the most Great Composer, Musician,... of his time, to not say of All Times !!! *yes* was very reluctant about reading 'Owner's Manuals', 'User Manuals',... as a Real 'self-educated' Man that he was... He rather was known to take all this 'paperwork' and to directly put it on the trash !!! *yes*

I named the Grand 'Frank Zappa' ! *yes*

So, don't worry at all... you're on the right way !

Hey IntroNinja, your link is down Bro'. I'm encountering a very similar problem as Phloopy. I'm trying to Batch re-Save a Kirk Hunter Library that is in .ncw format. But it wants me to find thousands of files that ARE there, but not in .wav format. It works if I point to one single file, but I can't do that manually for thousands of files, it would take forever. I'm in Kontatkt 5.5.2. So I guess my question to you is, is there a setting in Kontakt to make it see .ncw files as .wavs or am I just wasting my time? Or how does one batch re-save when the library is in .ncw format??

The same way as normal. File > Batch Resave then point to the root folder of the Kirk Hunter library.
If you're still having issues after that go to Settings > Database > Add then add the library under Folder / Volume and Update. This way when you get the "Samples Missing" message, click 'Search from Database' and Kontakt should automatically locate everything.

You could also try checking 'Collect Samples and create new destination folder structure' when using Collect samples / Batch Compress.

Yeah can convert both ways ncw -> wav vice versa.
Kontakt real adaptable that way & many don't realise the amount of formats it can handle etc.
Not an expert myself that way & need to read up more but messed that way with some decent results.
Only problems arise with protected .NKX or NKC etc but there ways around that also and threads on how to do it or try etc

Just make sure to click allow alternative file types, then point to folder & resave. Should work fine :)

Pinkman, thanks for that in depth answer.....gonna look into that when I boot up Kontakt today.
Herr Durr, danke schon for the new link.
Kloud, thank you the additional input, that solved it. By clicking the box called "Allow alternative file types", in the Samples Missing dialog box, Kontakt saw .ncw's as .wav's. and I was finally able to Batch re-Save my Library. Thanks for the quick responses guys.........you ROCK!!
