Just imagine if actors didn't behave outside of themselves when working on stage or in front of a camera, how utterly boring and flat their performances might be. What I do is become my uber-self and embody personalities that will reflect as best they can the poetry of the songs that I sing. I imagine that I am the song and express myself in that narrow context.

 

Drink at least one bottle of Jack Daniels every day while smoking 60 cigarettes. Also consider forcing your wife/girlfriend to move out, so that you can fall into a gloomy depression that leaves you on the edge of your own existence. Good luck
