this is because your user needs to temporarily assume Root, like it would if you did this in Terminal with the command prefaced with Sudo. You have to enter the administrator password for any operation like this.

Can anyone explain an easy way to certify and codesign a .component file that is protected by steinberg.

Classic. So many people asking like myself, what the 'source code' mystery file is and not one answer! Just use done84's method.

I've installed the V.R.'s Dorico 6.1 as instructed in their release and then downloaded this .sh file. Created my own certificate. Replaced the "Cubase 14"'s with "Dorico 6". Ran that modified .sh file as .command. All went well.

When I try to open Dorico it crashes and says:

    System Integrity Protection: enabled

Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGKILL (Code Signature Invalid))
    Exception Codes: UNKNOWN_0x32 at 0x000000010591d06c
    Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000032, 0x000000010591d06c

Termination Reason: Namespace CODESIGNING, Code 2 Invalid Page
What could I had done wrong?
