So I have been learning Kontakt because I ran into some trouble patches in Spectrasonics Vocal Planet. Most of it works perfect but some of the nki files trigger samples on specific velocity range only (it varies from patch to patch) making it difficult to find the velocity range which is usually very narrow, in this example as you can see, its only between 123 to 124!




I now know about the sample mapping, groups and zones. I have adjusted the velocity of the samples to cover all of the velocity range (1 to 127)



But no change in audio, the samples are still triggered on the original velocity the patch came with and does not follow my adjustments. This happens in both Kontakt 4 and 5 so its not a bug. Any idea what could be causing this?

 

Did you verify if there is a group programing in these nki?
Or is there any Script used in it?

 

No script and a single group containing handful of samples. No roundrobin or dynamics, no tricky "group start options".
For me, the instrument is not important but this strangeness with Kontakt is, been pulling my hair learning to design and code and I am well past the basics but there is no indication what could be the problem here. Thank you for your time!

Well your nki was cursed so I had to do some special here

So you need these ingredients to fix when you find this situation:

1 Dragon pen (have to be from a baby dragon)

2 rattlesnake eyes, not form the same snake (you don't want to charge with a blind snake curse do you?)

This must be done at moon eclipse day (like yesterday ... we've been lucky...)

so, you mix all this with Krug champagne and after you have loaded the problematic nki,
throw the mixture on your computer screen until you hear it scream, then you'll see a light coming out of your screen and you will smell a strange smell, like if the Kontakt nki is burned. And that 's it , it is fixed.

The curse is gone

Ok ok ahem alright, I admit...... couldn't do it that way 'cause obviously I could'nt have a baby dragon pen, as we all know, baby dragons are only in spring so...

I had to use another solution, more brutal one.

After I inspected the all intrument in edit mode without finding any reason for its fail.
and
Thinking that any digital file can be corrupted on a digital level, (means some 0 or 1 missing.


This is what I've done:

I took the nki, open edit mode, go to mapping editor, select all, click right, use copy zones.

Create a new nki, open edit mode, go to mapping editor, click right, use paste zones.

Save the new nki, et voilà

As simple as that

 

I'm not an expert with K5, but you can look on X-ART. There are many tutoriels..
