@WillTheWeirdo, my man. Lots of respect. I guess you've almost always been at the right place, your family. And this comes from a guy who's divorced, in his 40s and still trying to find his way. I don't have big production credits to my name and I'm still trying to break through it. As a musician I can't complain. I play the bass and I've been blessed to play with some great artists, being in Joe Lynn Turner's backing band gig in my hometown the greatest accomplishment I've had. I've also played for some big-name local artists, but the music production world drags me in. I can't help it. I mostly work with unsigned local artists looking for a break as I am. I can't complain. I've built a nice project studio, and although the estate rent gets the best of my income sometimes, my teaching gig in a language school keeps me afloat. Some guys think of buying a car and an apartment, but I have a studio. As a musician, I play whatever needs to be done. I can do rock, Latin music, top-40 eighties rock, anything that puts food on the table. I don't want to sound bitter or condescending. Im living the dream and that's how I want to be remembered when I kick the bucket.

I feel ya, every day I'm able to be creative is a great day no matter the level of the work. My dream was just to make records, I'm still doing that, I feel very blessed.

I'll add that all the positive energy here has inspired me to finally do my youtube channel. I'm a very private person and I hate the narcissistic net, but I feel there is a need and maybe it will help inspire some, so it's in my 2017 plans.

Fantastic, let us now when it's up! Are you near Lake Lanier or Allatoona? I don't get up to Atlanta that often but we ought to go for a beer in Buckhead sometime. Maybe some good BBQ too.

Nope, I'm near another lake that shall remain nameless, for privacy reasons.

I learned a lot from your posts and thanks to you I jumped into the Acustica Audio bandwagon. So, I'll give something small in return...

It's said: "poco a poco". Yes, I'm spanish so if you ever have any doubts while you're learning, hook me up!

Thanks for sharing this (after all :hifive:) It's such a recognizable story to me with all the currents that are going on during productions. The amount of good material that got shelved for none valid reasons must exceed all the crappy songs that did got released by far. Ego's and power games.....the music industy's worst enemies.

You have no idea just how right you are..... 99% of my industry work never got released. It was a big part of my frustration with the biz, so much work and time wasted...... so many hours away from my family that amounted to zero, arrrrgh!

One of my favorite groups I worked with (who were even signed by a label president) got shelved all because their label team was shared by another artist, and that artist debut album hit it big before their debut album was released, so the label shelved the group to keep the label team focused on the artist that hit, lol. That other group was crazy talented, but in this day and age, labels are chasing the money at any artist's expense. In the end the consumer gets very little quality to choose from, from the major labels, it's so sad.

Today, independent is the way to go, as my old friend Tech N9ne is proving big time.
