    Hello,

here we go, I have a new pair of Yamaha HS80 with a M-Audio Mobile Pre MKII soundcard. These plugged into a new powerful desktop PC. (mentioning this because when I was using my laptop, no noise was heared)

Now about the noise.. there's a subtle static (but sometimes it is coming louder) high-pitch sound from only one of my speakers (when it is not plugged into my soundcard, no noise is heared). Well, there's also white noise coming, but that's not a problem, it always was there.

And also there's a quite loud 'beep' sound when browsing computer disks (I mean this: Computer/Music:)D)/Experimental etc etc).

so damn tired about all these gear problems.. hope I can fix this and focus on creativity :) Thank you!

    HI 5elements

you need to do this with some trouble shooting

    check your card drivers
    re-seat your card
    remove all usb devices
If this uses usb do other devices have problems on the usb ports?
check your card setup and latency times
try another DAW Reaper is free to try
look on the internet others have had the same problem with this card
Do they still sell this, that will tell you something if it no longer available
used to see this problem with old computers ,talking late 1990's you could hear
the data transfers on the audio output, with occasional pops and whistles

You might have a ground loop problem, or a DC voltage floating problem between
the computer and your speakers, you say no problem with the laptop, the laptop
is effectively not grounded, check all your grounds, if you have a volt meter
see if there is a DC voltage difference between the usb ground and the speaker
    input ground

hope this helps :mates:  :dancing:

thank you for the answer, korgrog!

card drivers: I've tried different versions of my soundcard drivers; even tried with asio4all and the same problem. So, it's not the drivers.
Tried again to plug the card into my laptop with the speakers in the same place, and everything is fine!

Another important thing to mention is when I'm trying to do something (listening to music or opening the DAW) instantly there's a static beeeeep and it continues untill I quit the DAW or close AIMP.

USB ports: unplugged everything; tried on different ports - no success.

well, card setup is the same for desktop and laptop, but with laptop it works fine.
latency.. not really sure what this has to do with m problem, but Latency Checker shows green ))

no, it's not the DAW.. cause the same daw via laptop works fine :)

And finally, ground loop and voltage. Could you explain more on how to check these? I mean, as far as I know, my house is ground-looped.
USB ground.. speaker ground.. dont really understand what it means xD

another thing: I have headphones out of my soundcard (Beyerdynamic DT 770) and they sound fine :)

UPDATE: found on the web a quite similar problem, and the issue was the cables and he fixed it by using balanced cables, rather than unbalanced. I've checked mine, they are unbalanced. Don't know if I can find today where to buy a pair of balanced cables, but I'll keep you up-to-date.

    TRS Balanced line should help

does it make the same noise if you just play music to the speakers?

make of your computer may help, look on the internet to see if others

have this problem with your make of computer, sometimes a bad power supply

or low quality capacitors on the motherboard can cause this

    hey guys..

it's been a while since I've created this thread, but finally I found some good balanced cables.. but they DO NOT HELP!
I'm tired of all this fckin' gear.. have you any other ideas about this?

I hope there's still a way to make those speakers work properly.
