I think a good thing is to use a firewall manager. The one I use is not an EXTRA firewall, but just manages Windows firewall. Either way, extra or manager, they can usually be set to notify of any attempts to connect and prevent unfortunate changes. More info in the "spoiler" below.
(Of course what you are asking seems to be beyond firewall issue, but that something has been changed in registry, or SOMEplace. Hopefully someone will know what to do.) And I just realized you are not talking about a Windows install either....
I like "Windows Firewall Control". It is easy to manage the settings, and to delete any things I blocked because i did not know what they were. Nice list you can filter by "user-created" & "invalid",etc. Also an option to "Block for now and ask me later." I paid for it to get the notification feature, but now it has been bought by Malwarebytes and is free (I think all features are free). There was discussion about the change, and it will soon be integrated with MBAM but if it will be free, i do not know.
Either way, paying for a firewall or finding a free one ... even using Windows built-in one was not difficult on Win7 (not sure about win10, because i am using WFC).
I did that on Windows7 with a load of things I needed to block because i was trying all DAW stuff I could find.
Compared with setting up the DAWs, it was a piece of cake. The big drag for firewalls is if you don't get notifications of what's been interrupted and/or and option on what to do with it (Windows built-in one is like that). If you have Windows Pro versions you can set Group Policies to manage it better.

Maybe some .plist file left from Library Preferences or Library Plist folders?

Thanks for the info :) I'll take a look when I have time. Btw I should have mentioned that I'm a mac user and I have Little Snitch installed to block the incoming and outgoing connections.

I deleted all .plist files left in Library Preferences but that didn't help. Even tried deleting other .plist files :( It goes back to trial while I'm in the middle of creating a beat.

I fixed it :) The problem was a hidden Image-Line folder in Macintosh HD / Users / username / Library / Preferences /
    Thanks for your help anyways
