I love the main melody, but I think it shows up a bit too much without significant changes or variations. It's a great melody and therefore I wouldn't use it that much or with caution.

I think I wouldn't have introduced the same main melody at 0:37 again. Was also expecting something different, because of that little twist on this brass at the right side. Loved that little detail. I think I would have tried to do something different right here for in the front. Like a new melody or a variation of the main melody, but I will definitely keep the strings in the background. I love that.

I would keep the section at 0:46 like how it is right now. Love that section with the main melody in combination with the brasses in the background.

Ah, I wouldn't have introduced this melody at 0:59 again. I would just go on with that string section immediately. Love that section by the way.

The melody at 1:25 is great with a great finishing on that brass after it. Love that little detail, but then I also think I wouldn't have repeated the same melody twice again before the choirs are coming in. The same melody is already introduced pretty often before.

I would keep everything at 1:38 and after that. Love this section at 1:46. Great to make you getting excited for the ending imo.

Maybe a cymbal at 2:21? Yeah, I think I really would have added a cymbal here. Just the same as what you did before. Although, I think I can see why you didn't. It could make the impact at the end maybe a bit less bigger, because you have heard it a few second before.

I am also not a really big fan of this specific tone at 0:14 until 0:17. Doesn't sound really sharp to me, but could be a matter of taste though. Is this spitfire too?

Other than that I really love it. Absolutely great track. Well done! You can really see you're talented.

Just a few ideas. For you to decide if you want to do something with it. I will still love the track no matter what :)

Thank you so much for your comment Nick. I will remember to check that out as soon as I start working on the extended version. I think you're right about the main melody being too present, although maybe I thought initially that way it would be a more memorable track. I'll definitely come back to it. Thank you for taking the time !

    Take care,

    Rey

Also I used CinePerc for the... Perc and Spitfire for the rest. Now I have changed to OT so it's gonna probably be even more epic if I may say so !

Great and turbulent piece Rey :like:

@Nick12 already nailed it, so I´ll keep from being "the wise guy" using other words telling the same.

Looking forward to second edition  :like:

Yeah, but don't put pressure on yourself in a way like thinking I really have to make an extended version. Unless you really want it or if you think you can better perform with it of course. I mean if you're going to try and it's not really working, then it's fine aswell imo. It also still is and remains a good piece. Just relax and maybe go on to something else, or try to go on with it later.

I don't really know either if my ideas will be a huge improvement, but you can always try it and then decide for yourself if you like it or not.

Oh no I don't have it anymore, I am so motivated now I am just waiting for some hardware to arrive in a few days to get started, now I am trying to bring variety to the "elephantesque" triplet figure on my piano ! Everyone on this thread has either been so kind or fascinating in their comments such as yourself that I am very much looking forward to start bringing it a fresh piece as possible whilst maintaining the character of this first version :)

    Cheers and take care Nick,

    Rey

That too is dang fine! What I think would benefit your particular skill set, or at least the one that you are showing us a glimmer of, is to score a short film or at least some interesting visual work that you could augment and experiment on helping to tell another's story. The sea might part for you and help lead you to the other shore.

That is so lovely of you. I deeply appreciate it. I have already scored some short movies in high school but nothing amazing... I did one pro short movie after that in uni, would you be interested in seeing it ? It's a bit more jazzy-ish...

im not trying to take away anything from the piece you have shared with us, if only. add more "value" to yourfuture stories in music.

Alot of times, we end up in a mess - we have Too many ideas for a piece of music.
or maybe we dont "feel" the idea is "good enough". so we add more "stuff" , counter melodies, new instruments, little flurish'es. maybe a litle ornament to the music etc. All that To make it sparkle more in the prism of light.

in those situations, what can be a good thing is to take a step back and try to form a new perspective on the "piece".
To view it with a new lenss if you would. To view it as "the big picture" . in the big picture you can easily determen what is important, and what is not as important. You can view What colors are too dimm or too bright more easily{big picture}, than if you are all cought up in all the small details.

    point beeing this

    Less is more.

    no really!

dont be afraid of only using a few instruments for a piece.
not everything needs to "sound like a full orchestra", even tho if that is what is the norm or just a goal to aim at.

Aha. This is not uncommon in Classical music and some other genres aswell.

If OP doesn't mind linking a totally different genre, try to count the different parts, you'll probably fail
