I would just love for some criticism on a track I worked on for ages last year.



Don't be too harsh on me I've only been composing "seriously" for a couple of years lol !

Nice job man. As a synthesis I like it. It has peaks and valleys, piano and forte and it keeps building to the end. On the other hand( the instrumentation) , I had a few moments (only in the first section) that I kinda feel you just had to put in different instruments and techniques and see what suits you more, and as soon as something fitted you, you kept developing that part. But that was just for a couple of times and it was subtle. (it's just that I'm a little soundtrack freak and I tend to compare your track with the creme de la creme). As of the sound, I will agree with @No Avenger for some upfront sounding stuff and I will add to it that some of the instruments worked really well (as of realism) some others looked a bit fake. But in overall it was a nice decent orchestra. Let's say something like Vienna's symphonic orchestra along with a couple of hobbyist musicians. If you sum up all this I think the balance is way in the good side. and also agree with @EAR TO LEARN on one of the best tracks on Audiosex
Btw Welcome to the community and keep up with the good work

 

MR. Anderson, that is one great bit of composition. I'm only sad that it ended so quickly, you had me from the first moment until the last. Please, tell us more stories.

I guess, at least in part, is one the silver linings of this terrible crisis.

 

This is like listening a demo of some Spitfire or OT libraries, very well made.

Which libraries did you use?

 

Haha I guess you could see it that way. My virtual orchestra is composed of Spitfire Orchestra and CinePerc mostly ! Thank you for your comment ! Take care.

i was putting off listening to this because of the title. but wow. you did an amazing job. it was not at all what i was expecting. kind of reminds me of some of danny elfman's work.

 

amazing track ... and it is noticable that it took long to create it ... nice work on the details

 

Good work. Just be careful of such a drastic key change at 1:46. It goes against all the earlier development work. Keep it up though.

 

Interesting you mention that ! I chose that key change over many others and it took me at least a week to be happy with the result. The aim was to be "drastic" as you say, for what comes next ! Would you care to develop ? Thanks !
