With Mac, Intel and now AMD making new processor announcements, it's hard to keep up.
Which will be best for music/audio?
I'm looking at a new PC soon so this interests me.

It's hard to say, but as someone who is invested in the Windows platform I am following the progress of the prototype 5nm Zen4 that is currently running @ 5GHz on all cores, because I am looking for a balance between performance and power consumption. There are rumors predicting a product launch at Computex 2022.

It was cool, but there wasn't enough information about Zen3+, the one with 3D-cache that's going to be on sale soon.

Zen4 is still far, it'd be useful and cool to have more information at least. What is sure it'll need a new motherboard, socket and stuff. And also probably will be a freaking rocket :D

Some tech commentators are speculating that the single Zen3+ CPU offering is a stopgap solution to counteract the recent Alder Lake release, while Zen4 is going to be the main event. Computex 2022 starts on May 24, and is a possible launch date.

I'm using 5700G, goddamn, what a monster, PBO is way better and safer than overcloking, and I can get some spikes of 4.8 and even 5.0ghz sometimes on my processor with PBO enabled, runs smooth af, just get a 240mm water cooler or bigger and youre good
Also: 3600mhz ram or higher, CL 18 minimum, ram makes all the difference here

Here is an article from Dr. Ian Cutress (Anandtech), about the Zen 3+ mobile offerings. The one desktop CPU is indeed a stop gap to compete with Alder Lake from Intel.

These days? Literally all of them. Audio is not really hard to process, and unless ur doing some Hans Zimmer 100 instances of Zebra-type shit, spending $1000 on a computer* ($2200 for mac!) Goes a LONG LONG way. Intel, AMD all perform pretty much neck in neck, some pluses equal some minuses, but ur not gonna see a jaw-dropping difference, maybe except in a generational advance. Apple M1 silicon is still pretty much an infant but does an amazing job, second-gen M1 will be a beast I think, but again, there are trade-offs. I have a Zen 5600 with 32 gigs. I do everything on it, at the same damn time, lol.

    * not including video card, cause them shits cost a fortune.

    CPU 2.JPG

So these are the 10 most interesting of our time
Next gen will 10-50% more power

(AMD 7763 because it's the beast (Server)
AMD 3995 WX Workstation with nearly the same power
Intel 12900KF Desktop but with new Little Big like Cores with problems on some systems (specially on games with DRM thanks to the heterogeneous system )
    AMD 5950X classic Desktop
ARM N 80 most cores on a modern system(single CPU) and most powerful ARM chip ATM
AMD 1700 best price but dated system
Intel 11400 best price less dated
Intel 12600K best price Intel new gen
    AMD 5980HX Best Laptop
M1 Pro Best Mac (also best TDP and second in ARM and Laptop) (Also ARM chip but not more, the most powerful since the N80)

Yeah, everyone agrees. But I was expecting more CPUs of that Zen3+ considering Zen3 has already some months behind and Intel 12 gen allegedly surpass them even on DDR4. Perhaps AMD expected to have a more polished version, perhaps they did the math with the total budget required for Intel 12th gen upgrade and decided an over-expensive "king of gaming" was enough.

PS. That being said, compared to nVidia or Intel... AMD was the rock-star of CES
Next CPU(APU or whatever) I'm gonna buy is one of these. I already wanted last time but I was forced to get something in stock due to the Coronalypse.

I've got a massive project coming up and I use a lot of Nebula on every track, so I want to work as much as possible without freezing. If Zen4 is announced in May at Computex 2022 then I'm going for it, 5nm and 5GHz all cores is a combination that is too hard to resist :)

I've got a true peak of (healthy) jealousy for you then
I remember when Lisa Sue says that teaser-like. Well, full-blown teaser. I bet it'll can handle at least 3 or 4 instances of Nebula :winker:

    I didn't watch too much of the presentation (skimmed to the end) but the only concern was the "make sure you get a (crappy) Radeon or get throttled" talk. Like any sane person I'd wanna get a Zen4 and RTX, just despair that this will be nerfed by Mary Su herself ;_____; or worse, her Dr Strange cape ;_________;

Yes, there's that too, so maybe perfect for an offline DAW computer?

    Just my dream coming true
Not having to worry about high gpu temps, high latency, bad drivers, chip soldering problems, miners and noise, is this heaven??
