    Summer of Rave (Full Documentary)

BBC. Got to watch it later on, don't think I've seen it. Uploader apologizes for some sloppy editing.

I can't find the statistics, but there was a claim that violence related crimes in the UK declined during the height of the Rave scene (Summer of Love).

Passover is a great song that I listen to a lot and The Cure's The Figurehead also has a special place in my heart. It's nice to find someone that still listens to good music. Such a rarity these days.

I really couldn't have said it better myself Rolma. In an effort to survive in the modern world people became too consumed with what they did instead of what they wanted to be and this only led to an existence void of any real meaning. At Industrial concerts, particularly during the 80s, it was common during concerts to project shocking imagery (such as animal torture, Nazi soldiers, nuclear weaponry and the daily grind) at a screen on stage. The hope was to jolt people out of the apathy and complacency that they were consumed with. To question the status quo and decide for themselves if this is the kind of world that they wanted to live in. I also really liked that etching by Goya and the title is just perfection and so very true.

I'm really glad that you're enjoying this thread and it makes me happy to know that you return here time to time for inspiration. All the best. :mates:

I really like their first album which is completely different than everything that would come later and more punk-oriented. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me is great too with a solid variety of tracks including Just Like Heaven which is a truly amazing song. Wish (1992) is certainly a top pick for me as well. The opener is very visceral and leads into High which is such a great song. It closes on The End which is a really great track with some amazing lyrics so check those out if you have the time. I really appreciate the offer for uploading the Piano Magic discography but I wouldn't ask you to do that as I'm sure you have better things to do. All the best mate. :mates:

This thread is a bold adventure into the unknown. A wild free-for-all where anything and everything can happen. It's really whatever you want it to be so put on the coffee and join the commotion. :mates:

I must be allergic to that kind of thinking because I could care less about getting rich. Particularly considering the main genres I am interested in writing it's not even a remote possibility. Then again I am not doing this as my main thing so there's no pressure besides that which I place on myself in an effort to learn and grow as a musician. I never went to school for any of this stuff (or pretty much anything else for that matter). Everything I know I basically taught myself from programming and philosophy to art and music. I had always had great taste in music but I didn't really get involved in producing it until much later than I would have liked. Partly it was born out of my need to find some kind of catharsis and in that sense it's the same as the inspiration that spawned the name The Cure. I was really frustrated when I first got started because I don't consider myself a stupid person by any means but I was having great difficulty and honestly I still am. There were times when I wanted to give up but when I saw how it was helping me during times of crisis such as when I watched my father die from Stage 4 lung cancer and afterwards there was really nothing left for me but that pursuit. These circumstances gave it such a value beyond money that I could never make that a priority. I also don't want to dumb down my craft for the braindead consumer public that currently thinks that Drake or Skrillex are deserving of accolades. My attitude is if people like my stuff and I can make money on it that's a great bonus. If not then fuck 'em, I never got into this for them anyway. *no*

There are a few different versions of this mix that I have heard throughout the years so that may be the cause of the confusion.

Nice selections. Marian is one of my favorite Sisters of Mercy songs though personally album-wise I prefer Floodland and it's dark heavy atmosphere to First, Last And Always. 808 State, FSOL, KLF, Meat Beat Manifesto, The Orb, Sisters of Mercy and many others certainly get tons of play at my house.

Funny thing about The KLF and them burning all that money. In an interview in 2004 Bill Drummond acknowledged that he regretted it. Yikes that's got to feel pretty shitty.
