Some may find these useful. Owsey makes pretty good music and he has an entire tutorial series on making down-tempo music on Sonic Academy using FL Studio 12 but the principles apply to any DAW of choice. That first tutorial is nuts man, ive gotta get Absynth another shot, i tried it when i first started making tunes and the whole plugin went over my head! Damn gotta revisit it. Good stuff!

Another bonus for those who really like Reaktor, this is an old Ensemble but very adept at drone and ambient Textures and soundscapes

This is one of my favorite Synths, and i have used this a lot. Can get some really unique and otherworldy sounds with this. pair this with an iPAD and konkreet performer, or touchAble 3 or liine Lemur and you can perform some serious deep ambient soundscapes

 

@SyNtH. As an old time, simple guitar player I never really got into the whole ambient synth thing, just never been my cup of whiskey. But out of curiosity I watched your entire tutorial and can say honestly...it's still not for me. However, listening to you explain your thought processes while using an inordinate amount of tracks, little sounds, techniques, automation's etc. compared to what I have done was interesting & has given me a greater appreciation for the complexity in a piece like this. Of course this comes as no surprise to the rest of you that write in this genre. Just wanted to say kudos on the tutorial & thanks for the insight into the world of a madman! Well done!
