Altona has released Tilt&Shelf, a minimum-phase equalizer effect plug-in for Windows and Mac,
featuring continuously-variable slope and maximally-flat group delay.

Tilt&Shelf is an innovative new equalizer plugin that offers a better sounding and much easier to use alternative
to graphic, parametric and even shelving equalizers for general shaping of frequency spectral content.

    Variable filter slope:
Typical conventional filter slopes are fixed at ±6 or ±12dB/oct. One of Tilt&Shelf’s key features is its variable
slope that can be adjusted continuously from ‑12dB/oct to +12dB/oct. This allows changes to the overall frequency
spectrum that vary from very subtle to quite substantial. The following screenshot shows a response with a ‑1dB/oct
slope across the entire frequency spectrum.

    Bessel filter type:
The main characteristic of a Bessel filter is its maximally-flat group delay, resulting in minimal pulse or transient
distortion. In addition, ringing and overshoot are virtually absent, resulting in optimal signal transparency.
Tilt&Shelf is based on a Bessel filter with all its benefits at any equalizer setting, independent of gain, frequency
and slope. To see why this is relevant, see comparisons of Tilt&Shelf and typical graphic, parametric and shelving
    equalizers.

    Minimum-phase:
Tilt&Shelf is a minimum-phase equalizer, as opposed to linear-phase, resulting in zero-latency audio signal processing
and the absence of any pre-ringing.

    64‑Bit processing:
64‑Bit audio processing throughout ensures no-compromise audio quality.

    Resources:
Tilt&Shelf’s cycle resource requirements are similar to those of a 31‑band graphic equalizer.

    Intuitive GUI:
Instead of adjusting multiple gain, frequency and Q‑factor knobs, Tilt&Shelf’s response is manipulated directly
by dragging the yellow handles. Both low/high-shelf gains and frequencies can be adjusted independently in order
to create combined tilt and low/high-shelf responses. In pivot mode, low-frequency as well as high-frequency content
can be adjusted with a single handle. The following screenshot shows an example. Notice the ‑2.6dB/oct slope.

    Specifications:
    Gain range: ‑20dB to +20dB
    Frequency range: 20Hz to 20kHz
    Sampling rates: 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 192kHz, 384kHz
Plugin formats: Audio Unit, VST (both 32‑bit and 64‑bit)

    Download the demo version:
Mac Demo: AU AU64 VST VST64
    Windows Demo: VST | VST64

The demo version is fully functional except that audio is interrupted periodically and parameters cannot
    be recalled or automated.

The plug-in is available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU), priced at $39 USD.
