The installer (coming from Audio Ease), developped with freeware Inno Setup (really) - like iZotope products - can't detect both 32-bit and 64-bit VST folders (from Registry when correctly declared). Also it installs all AAX and RTAS plugins without asking (no Pro Tools option checkbox). Fortunately, it doesn't install iLok/PACE, and after "magic" file copy, it works fine.

Funny thing about Altiverb 7 is that it still sounds like a static convolution reverb from 2006, they sat on the technology they invented but never really improved it, lazy MFers.

When directly compared to Reverbrate 2's FIR convolution or Nebula's dynamic convolution, I've having a really tough time using 2D sounding Altiverb 7, which sucks as I used it for years and have a 30GB impulse library for it, with many custom impulses that are now pretty useless, lol.

Sorry for my "Disagree" (be sure it's not nasty), reverbs you've mentioned are simply different, but considered as good/excellent reverbs too, by many users, press... Same for LiquidSonic Reverberate or 2C-Audio (Aether). In fact depending your usage/need, budget (for legit) etc... About convos, Altiverb is considered as reference since long time, however, but its price isn't fair for any people (in particular for hobbyists) and about iLok/PACE (another major difference from 6 to 7, + native x64)... (thanks AU - AudioUTOPiA, not AudioUnits... pffff ;)

These are some most important reasons why I decided to sell my v6 along with the comparison with what Reverberate offers despite being dirt cheap. And now with fusion IRs' Reverberate has left many big names behind imho.

My only usage for Altiverb 6 was orchestral placement, using "Stage Position" on Vienna Konzerthaus Mozart or Large Hall.
Because the supposed "best" "Todd AO scoring stage" is just badly captured. And most ppl thought the 3 positions where stage positions...whereas they are SEAT positions :bash:
And because they made their Stage Position algos on Vienna Konzerthaus Mozart (easily audible. And even visible on their website pictures).

After that, i included freeware Bricasti Altiverb patches, for final "lush" touch.

I will see what new captures are in A7. But i don't expect something groundbreaking.
    Stage Position with
Vienna Konzerthaus Mozart or Large Hall works right to me.

parallax-audio VSS - VirtualSoundStage seems to "phase" the sound. I don't like that.
Here is the "good old" tuto i speak about :

Firstly, Both valhalla and altiverb are 'reverb effects'.. :deep_facepalm:
Valhalla has 4 products. Each cost $50 compared to altiverb's $1000 pricetag.. POS they are not.. :knock: Each has its own use..

    Bact to topic,

I played with Altiverb and some of the long IRs are really lush. Although Valhalla shimmer can get close but altiverb is really subtle and smooth..

I haven't really tried the new liquidsonics.. Probably gonna try it later..

    :thanks:

    Ok, I did it!!!

To everyone having some issues loading Altiverb in Studio One 3.1 on Win10 x64, please do the following:

    - From the File Explorer, locate one of your other plugins: Choose any DLL file of a working plugin (I chose Omnisphere 2)
    - Right click on the DLL file and select Properties
    - Select the Security tab
    - Do the same with the Altiverb DLL
    - Now all you need to do is compare files permissions/attributes between both plugins and make sure that they are identical (meaning that Altiverb's permissions matches the permissions of your working plugin).

In my case, using Win8 compatibility mode and starting S1 as Admin wasn't enough: I had to perform this permission match to be able to detect the plugin. Oh yeah.

Also, no need to keep running S1 as Administrator.

If anyone has some questions, please feel free to ask!

No shit, I though both were synthesizers... But really? are you saying that both are reverb effects? because I could swear I was making bass lines with both, never even thought that it could be used as reverb effects....

By saying "hence it's more of an effect like reverb,", I've meant it's not natural, it's more effect like. Plus natural, unnatural I don't like it's sound and I don't like algorithmic reverbs which have no control over tale width...

I'm using it ATM, it's AMAZING. Try using some concert room IRs with a piano, it's beautiful, it completly changes the tone of the instrument.

S1 detects it as a crack and blocks it (there's a pirate flag icon that appears next to it), but I was able to use it with DP and Pro Tools without any problems so I guess it's just presonus being dicks (honest, but dicks still)

It was apparent what I've meant... maybe next time graduate from high school at least, huh?
Comparing Valhalla to convolution reverbs... did you expect everyone to say "altiverb is POS, go with Valhalla"? is that why you're so delirious now?
" hence it's more of an effect like reverb, than real"
    clown... :)

You are wrong. Nothing sounds real than a real place recording. And you can tweak valhalla reverbs to sound real.
And yes, Altiverb is good to have.

The only person calling a plugin 'shit' is you.. Not me or anyone else.

The purpose of this topic was to have a discussion on Altiverb against other algorithmic reverbs i.e. valhalla - a very popular algo reverb.

Please do us a favor and do not humiliate yourself anymore.. :trashing:

My god.... what is the f***king purpose of convolution reverbs compared to algorithmic ones? The purpose it to f***king provide you with a more natural space like sounding reverb.
"And you can tweak valhalla reverbs to sound real." Of my f***ing god.... Did you just deny your own argument, right after typing it in? "Nothing sounds real"

Good luck tweaking a $50 plugin to sound real... ever wondered why people buy bricasti m7 for almost $4000 or Exponential Verb?

The answer is, you can't compare altiverb to valhalla and other algorithmic reverbs.
Altiverb has sampled acoustic spaces, you won't recreate those spaces with algorithmic reverbs, algorithmic reverbs are either used as an effect-like reverbs (I guess you'll again struggle to understand it... having barely a high school degree and at best pipes wielding diploma..) or to create a particular real-life-like space, not possible with convolution reverbs.
That's why some algorithmic reverbs are so lusted after, they give you an artificial unique space, not possible to have with convolution reverbs, while convolution type reverbs give you a real world sampled acoustic space, do you understand how many hours/weeks/months you would have to spend to recreate a particular real life existing space with an algorithmic reverb?

You don't, you will come back with another unbelievable reply, but I'll let you go, I might reply in a mild fashion, but I'll try my best to get the f*** out of here as soon as possible, we're on the different level, I never get along with chavs wielding pipes... not my type of guys... elaborate conversation wise.
