Alesis has a new product, Vortex, which you can get here in the US for only $100. This thing is the coolest keytar anybody has made in a long time, and the price is nice. Seems like a powerful MIDI controller for the money. http://alesis.com/vortex

    90's? I'd say the 80's.
Remember Jan Hammer (who made the Miami Vice music)?

it is just a midi controller. Not a synth. I am looking forward to playing with tilt sensor and ribbon at the same time. Hoping I can hook those to a vector control on a FM synth.

Actually its a 199.99 that's gotta be the Lamest thing ive seen! You would spend more time trying to program that junk then actually playing it lol that guy in video? he looks like Bugs Bunny trying to explain how to program the Damn thing...

Well, I have it in my hand. I paid $99 US for it. Seems pretty solid, which I expect from Alesis, and it doesn't seem any harder to program than any other MIDI controller. It's got after-touch and that tilt accelerometer control thing. Let me play with it for a few days and I'll have a more informed review. For the price, I wasn't expecting a lot.

How well does the accelerometer work? It looks like a cool controller. *yes*

I've seriously considered a keytar in the past. If this one had wireless capabilities I'd be pretty interested--the price is attractive.
