I placed Midiverb Emulator.vst3 in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, but Cubase 15 doesn’t see the plugin…

and there goes the first issue with emulating old digital hardware; you end up with fixed samplingrates (and with some luck, with samplingrates you can not use the in a DAW.)

no idea why anyone would like to recreate a midiverb, there are probably 100 free plug-ins which are better.

 

The original Midiverb in this shitty plastic box was one of the first low budget digital reverbs i've ever owned, and i think it's one of the worst sounding reverbs i've ever used. There have to be hundreds of software reverbs better than this, nothing to get excited about.

 

Why would anybody want to recreate anything old if there's always a better option nowadays? Because it has a distinct sound.

Alesis FXes like the MIDIverb were cheap and they were used in a lot of productions. Early 90s IDM is filled with that cheap reverb. Instant corner of a bedroom audiolab vibe. Same thing as with a 3630. It's not a great compressor but it gives an unique sound for better or worse.

As for BarrVerb, it works fine for me using the "u51 27c128 MVOBJ 2-6-86" ROM dump.

 

That's true of BarrVerb. midiverb_emulator (only the plugin) resamples if I'm reading the code correctly.

 

I´m not sure how i feel about plugin reverbs, i´m on my way of getting VSS3 via powercore, so whatever.

The thing is, i can hear midiverb in various tracks i really like so for me, it is a no brainer, this helped me to decide what i´m getting but other than that only web demo works for me, vst3 crashes FL, Reaper or VST HOST so idn.

 

I’ve always been amazed that there are so many strange (I won’t insult them) people who, in every discussion about emulators, start spouting nonsense like: “cluck-cluck-cluck, why do you even need this, there are much better things now!”

They clearly don’t understand that this isn’t a question of some abstract “quality.” Is the concept of authenticity completely unknown to you?

 

Many are just collectors.

 

I had a Miniverb and liked it's sound better than that of the Miniverb. I'm a fool for years ago giving it away along with my Yamaha SPX90IIb.
