    He guys

i hope some of yo can give me some experience advice on buying a soundcard
i can get my hands on both of these soundcards used for a reasonable price, do you guys hve any experience using one of them?
Wich one would you buy ?
My Maudio audiophile stopped working so i need a new audio interface quickly and i dont have 2 much to spend

I tried mr google but there are little reviews on the Yamaha so i hope one of youi guys could help a brother out.
An other question i have is, is there any noticeable diffrence between a soundcard wich uses USB1.0 and a soundcard using usb2.0 ?

hope to hear from you guys

    thanks in advance

I owned an Alesis io2 and I can happily say that the entire experience is comparable to a NIGHTMARE!

I bought the Alesis due to the good name of Alesis, I owned their D4 drum module way back in the 90`s, so was secure in the knowledge that it was a safe investment. That fookin thing near finished me and my interest in production. Sure, the inputs/outputs seem pretty sweet but the Alesis driver is a JOKE absolute. I sent the unit back to Alesis thinking it was faulty, they sent it back saying it was okay. So, after many, MANY emails back and forth, they finally admitted their driver was worthless and advised that I use ASIO4All as a driver instead of their supposed purpose built driver.

I gave up. Simple as that. I bought a Lexicon Alpha and had a LOT more fun and a lot less stress.

Don`t know about the Yamaha unit you mention, but, I would advise you steer clear of the Alesis. They NEVER sorted the driver issue, just palmed us off with ASIO4All. The audio output was also a LOT quieter that the Lexicon.

Best of luck, remember, a fool and his money are easily parted, do your research. Hope it works out.

I have an Audiogram3 as one of my mobile interfaces. Actually it's more Steinberg than Yamaha, but still ok though. Note that just like Steinberg's own CI Series the Audiogram3 lacks both MIDI and digital I/O.

    Avid/m-audio/Alesis are the same company.
Actually I might be wrong cause avid been having financial trouble and I heard they were selling a few of their brands.

Either way, I would stay away from avid and akai. I personally think most of their products are cheap, plastic and tend to have defects.
That's my personal opinion, you could check their forums and notice the amount of complains. Specially cause of driver issues or defective units.

    I don't know about yamaha.

I have a scarlett 18i20 and does the work for me.

Usb 2 have a higher ratio of data back and forth, Which can help diminish latency.
Overall you should try to stick with FireWire/thunderbolt or 2.0
Companies are slowly pulling away from FireWire and thunderbolt or usb 3 will probably become the main thing in 2 yearsish.
